My daughter lost her two front teeth in November and they still haven't come back in. That just seems like a long time to grow back in. Has anyone heard of it taking this long for their teeth to grow back in?

My youngest was 7 in april and lost her 2 front teeth over 18 months ago. there was no sign of the big ones coming through till December 2012. since then you can see the teeth right at the edge of the gums but they just wont come through. Every so often they will look grey through the gums and I have an appointment at the dentist for her next week. a tooth next to the 2 front ones has come out in the last 2 days and i'm hoping this will be what is needed for them to come through as the gap is just ridiculously big and the poor girl cant bite anything. will keep you posted with the outcome but those of you who have been waiting 6 months, that is normal as that is how long it took for my eldest teeth to come through at the front.

Hi, I thought I was alone in this situation! My 7 yr. Old daughter lost her baby tooth right next to her 2 front teeth 2 months ago, and there is no sign of the permanent one breaking through at all!!! I have been so upset about this to the point where I would imagine her growing up without a tooth, and how mean other kids would be! Am I thinking crazy or has anyone else thought the same thing? I'm glad I found this site and now know that I'm not alone in this. Keep me posted as I will do the same. Thank u everyone for sharing your experiences...I know this is very stressful on u as it is for me.

My daughter had to have 9 teeth extracted when she was 5, I allowed her to have cows milk in a bottle until she was 4 yrs old :( she is now 7 and her 2nd teeth have not yet come thru.. She is very self concious about it... Is there anything I can do to bring them thru rather than put her thru the dentist cutting her gums???

My daughter lost both front teeth in August and the one grew in right away but not the other side and that was 8 months ago! Should I be worried? My other 2 kids teeth grew in fine, but my youngest has a different dad

No. But what happens when kids lose their teeth early is that the gum becomes tough and strong, so when the adult tooth is ready to come down, it's harder for it to break through this toughened gum, so it sits up there longer.]
My daughter lost her 2 front teeth a year ago and still no teeth have come in (she's seven)! The dentist just tild me a week ago if they haven't come in by our next visit, he'll put this stuff on her gum to soften them, and then her teeth will come right through! I think it's a liquid or cream or something. He said it doesn't hurt at all.

My 7 year old son lost his top two front teeth last November. He has been to the dentist every six months. They said the X-rays showed his teeth are their but Have not broken through the

Gum yet. Over the summer his lost his bottom two teeth. He is missing four front teeth. The dr said there is no time limit for teeth to grow. I am still very concerned!

Just took my 9 yr old to an oral surgeon today. We had another round of xrays to see if there was a sist or if something eles was blocking his adult tooth from coming in. My son has to have surgery to remove a sist that may have been another tooth trying to form at some point in his life. They will put him to sleep and remove the sist. The surgeon said that the sist will be sent away to be looked at. The sist usually turns out to benign. We need to take care of this now so his adult tooth will come in straight and healthy. Parents if this is your little one go get advice because it could cause worse problems later for them and you. The surgery will last about 45 min and recovery will be about 20 mins. He will miss at least 2 days of school and will be in some pain but will get meds before we leave the office. Not looking forward to this at all but I know it must be done so he can have healthy teeth. Hope this helped someone cause I had never heard of this till it happened to us.

Yep, my youngest daughter thought she would help the tooth fairy and pulled hers out way before they were ready. It took forever but the adult teeth finally came in.

I agree to take her to the dentist. Mine has space, but for some reason the tooth hasn't popped through the gumline. Our dentist told us to give it 6 more months and if it's not through on it's own by next check-up she will cut her gum with a laser to let the tooth pass. Right now you can see the tooth bulging like the gum will break any moment, but it's been that way for months. Good luck!

get the dentist on it, she may have what my daughter had, a small mouth, she ended up needing some pulled to let the new ones in... and now a spacer, she just turned 8
