Ok i have a 1st grader who you could say is a bit of a day dreamer and struggles in school tremendously as a result. Basically he is the best kid to have when he is alone but has difficulty getting along with other children other then his big brother. I personally think he actually likes being alone and dosen't mind not playing with other kids , but if there is a naughty one in the bunch it is usally him, I have watched him and he tends to get nervous in big groups and always tends to do something stupid as an outlet. Anyway Dr. has dx him with ADD and wants to put him on meds. Im a bit concerned about this because he is not a hyper kid anyone else have a child like this or any suggestions?

Hi Tina. It is scary to put your child on perscription meds at such a young age, You may want to try Memory Charge. It is a natural supplement. It is in powder form (citrus flavored) so you can mix it with orange juice. it has Choline in it. 1 tablespoon is equivalent to the amount found in 11 lbs of fish. Over 80% of the population is deficient in Choline which is considered an Essential Nutrient and is essential in brain and cerebral functions, it helps with memory, focus and concentration. It is also good for Alzheimer's, headaches and migraines. Here is a link and you can see the ingredients. http://www.ardysslife.com/ProductPage.as... Its great, I use it every day. Feel free to email me at crystalgunn@gmail.com.

My daughter wasn't hyper (much) either..

I have always been really against meds for chuldren.

Her teacher was givning reports that she wasn't fnishing ANY of the work (shes in 1st grrade too) and I was getting really concerned.. She's very smart and was actaully telling the other kids how to do their work, but never finishing hers. As the year progressed, her reports were worse and worse.

I decided to have her tested and the results were yes, she is add (well I think they classify all children as adhd whether or not they are hyperactive).

The doc. put her on a rather high dose of ridilin so that she only has to take it once a day. Her parent/teacher confrences were the BEST report shes EVER had!

I thought because she is being affected at school I should at least try the meds. If they don't work I will take her right off. BUT they are working wonders... Hopefully she doesn't always need the medication to help her focus. If it works for right now though I am thankful. I didn't want her falling behind in school! Good luck.. hopefully I have helped some and not confused you.

What kind of improvements did you or the school notice with the fish oil?

wow thank you, I will definately give that a try. I am a RN and really know nothing of ADD, but if it is something as simple as that , I would much rather give that a try.
