becoming immune to meds?

He is ADHD/ODD. It works for a few days, a week at the most, then he starts regressing and his energy starts creeping back up to insane levels again, his attention slowly gets less and less again, he loses control of his impulses and his anger starts coming out again. It's so frustrating because he's so happy and proud of himself when they are working and I can see his frustration mounting as he starts to get immune to the dose :(



So far, he has tried Methanphenidate (spelling?) , Dexedrine and is now on Strattera. The methanphenidate worked for 5 days really well on the first dose, then when that wasn't working anymore, we upped it and his mood swings went crazy, really angry and and he seemed "down". Dexedrine worked for 5 days again on the first dose. when we upped it, it was horrible! His anger went through the roof and he never smiled anymore at all, he was always angry, and violent.

He's now on Strattera. First dose did nothing. We upped up slowly where he was so sensitive to the stimulants and the second dose did nothing either. 3rd one worked for 3 days then he started regressing. This last dose has lasted about 6 days but now he's regressing again. I am just so frustrated!!! It's like a tease for both of us, showing him how great he can feel and showing me how wonderful his capabilities are when he has his focus and control, then taking it away again.

i know i am the same way even to this day, i am immune to alot of meds, pain killers, antibiotics, and my mood stabalizers for my biopolar. i couldnt do anything really about it till i got older and learned natural remedies, and learned how to handle it with out taking meds now i dont take anything at all, unless its like a really bad infection. but really changing meds alot does work but its only going to be a short term solution, and so is uping the meds. i cant really see any cure for it. its just something that has to be managed. it sounds like your doing all that you can. and exactly what is it for i might be able to give more imput if i knew more.
