My son is two, and let's just say he is always going 100 mph. He does not enjoy anything that involves sitting still and focusing for more then a couple seconds. Ok, that makes it sound bad.

I guess at times it just seems like he is a 2 year old BOY. Other times it seems as if he may have ADHD which i have. Can I bring him to a doctor and have him tested this young? If he does have it, does anyone think that it was caught young enough to have him relearn those behaviors so he is not ADHD???

thanks for your time:)

My problems started with my son as early as 10months old i knew there was a problem then bt i was told terrible 2s troublesome 3s.. It has been 1 of the longest journeys i have ever been on 10yrs for a diagnosis.. I was made to beleive thre was nothing wrong it was all in my head.. And i even blamed myself for his behaviour even tho my son was telling me he was trying to be good, b his brain was telling him to be naughty..It was when he was 5 i had a little girl and then i realised it wasnt me.. For years i banged my head against a brick wall with a psycologist who didnt beleive ADHD really existed, he just blamed evry1 elseand evry thing else..I fought and fought and it was only may last year when he was finally diagnosed with ADHD.. They had been assesing him for nearly 2yrs and clearly said this was the worst case scenario as wot thy witnessed others denied they saw,and i had to fight for the assessment as the schools just wouldnt accept there was a problem, he is 13this year.. So yes ah guess ur answer to the question could be your son could well be ADHD.. I wish you every bit of luck hunny...

I have a son with ADHD and then some.. I knew he had it at the age of 2. Everybody said I was crazy and he was a normal boy. The doctors said that they can't treat this until he starts school. And when I say treat I mean medicate. He is now 10 and been on Straterra, Concerta, and now Adderall and Tenex. They all work but you have to find what is best for your child. They have medicines that are in liquid form but I think it is best to use the pill form because you get the exact dosage everyday. My stepson takes Concerta for his Autisim and it is liquid form and I don't like it.

What doctors will do is when they start school is have you fill out a questionaire and also his teachers. That is how they test for this. So don't go looking for a blood test. Good luck. It's been a long road for me, I hope that this is the only thing that you have to deal with unlike me. But whatever you do ask questions before you start any medications. With Straterra (from my experience) your child will need to get blood work done every 6 months or so to check his liver. Sorry to tell you all of this but it's better to be prepared and know your facts early on.........

NO I had my son tested when he was 18 months old they told me that he was very active and they did beleive he was adhd but since he had alot of hearing problems to wait til he was 2 so we waited until he was 3 to have him retested. I will tell you this when he had the doctor fustrated I knew something was wrong.  And the only problem that I had was the medicine we would have to take apart the medicine to give it to him applesauce because he couldn't swallow the pill and all they could give was a low dose which helped a little but I wasn't enough so we tried the patches when he was 5 but he would come home from school with them on the outside of his underwear but they found out later they there was a problem with the patch adhesive. We did have him rested when he was 5 and he didn't even know his abc's and numbers and he had been in preschool for 2 years. So I was glad they tested him early because I didn't feel as bad if I would had let him go until he failed a grade before I looked for help.

ADHD is not a "learned" behavior and ADHD cannot be cured only controlled.
A 2 year old is not supposed to sit still and concentrate for very long. It is their nature to be always on the go.
Testing is not recommended until a child is 6 or so UNLESS they are having trouble in school. I had trouble convincing anyone my son had ADD until kindergarten.
I've been told that ADD/ADHD is inherited so if you have it he probably does too. But don't bother with it now. He's just being a 2 yo boy!

hi i have 2 adhd boys one 18 and one 8 the oldest was showing signs really from birth he got thrown out of nursery and infant school so yes it can show as early as 2. it took me nearly 4 years to get him diagnosed. my youngest one has global development delay this masked his adhd till only a few months ago, and i got his diagnoses two months ago.i know how hard it is just trying to keep up with them.

hi my son is 7 and has been diagnosed since he was 4 he had very similar behavior to what you are describing , we first took him to see a doctor at 18 months after 3 or 4 similar trips to our gp he was refered to a specialist paediatrician who saw him for about 2 yrs and did all sorts of reports and visits to see if he was differently behaved in other settings when reece was about 3 and a half we were refered again to the adolesant mental healh service and he was diagnosed with adhd at 4 and a half i'm not sure if this will be any help to you or not , you mentioned you have adhd too so doe's my sons dad iwas told this had no bearing on reece having it but i'm not so sure.... i hope this of some help to you...

I was advised that a child could not be diagnosed until they were 6yrs old but speak to your own doctor now, if nothing else it will be recorded for when they will asses him, a child will always have ADHD..sorry, but they can learn to have a control of it, hope this helps.
