my son has an IEP and was just diagnosed with ADD the psychologist would like to see his IEP include more goals that are task oriented however, he did not give me any ideas does anyone have a child with an IEP and if so what kinds of things do they have in them. He seems to be easily distracted and doesn't seem to listen very well. I was trying to find ideas for his IEP before we call and have his IEP rewritten. Thanks!

I'm a special ed. teacher and write IEPs all the time. My 8-yr-old was in special ed. from age 3-8, so I've been on the parent side of the IEP as well. They may have a goal for staying on task, listening, etc. I could give you a call or talk via e-mail to give you more ideas. E-mail me at kidsfirst6@yahoo.com.

he just started Vyvanse today the teacher said he seemed to be a little more focused. He is only in Kind. but he seems to know his sight words but when at school he doesn't. also he has a problem staying focused and completing work assignments. Last year in preschool he would have major meltdowns while they have not yet seen these at school they did not see them in preschool for the first two months.

is he taking any medication for his ADD? my son had his tests read to him. he had a reading tutor. he was not to have more than "one rule" on his tests....ie if it was a math test it was only substraction or only addition. if it was a spelling test only words with the same "vowel rule". but until he went on the Daytrana patch he still struggled so bad. the patch has made him a different student.....he is doing really well this year.
