We are about to start taking my 11 year old to the psychologist for behavioral counseling in combination with the meds that she takes. She is a brilliant child, but she is extremely impulsive. I want to know if any other parents have tried it and does this combination work? I have no idea what to expect?

there will always be something that worked we tried therept frist no sucess but after meds my son was able to control himself and apply what he learned in therpy very implusive too !! the trick is to try give it some times if it seems to be working keep it up till you can really tell then at some point if what you are not doing is not helping trying to fine tune or change directions that sounds confusing but really its all trial and error with these kids some meds work some dont some doses are to high and then maybe not high enough .
but really therepy can help but for my son was not enough he could tell you everything he was supposed to do or if this situation comes up how he would react but when those emotions came into play his therepy was right out the window after meds much different story he would actually put what he learned into action its great
