I was diagnosed with adhd when I was in grade school and I am afraid that my son will have it to I was medicated but I don't really feel that it was the best rout to take I had a lot of issues with the meds I was on from wieght loss to depression how are you all coping with your adhd children? I don't really feel that it is a disorder just a different way of thinking and learning

I tell my 8 year old that it is a blessing as God needs him to be multi focused so he can be prepared for the important work that is ahead of him as an adult. AFter all a policeman, fireman, minister, teacher, and other careers requires that a person be able to focus on many different things at once. I medicated this school year as he was getting behind in class and starting to tell himself that he was stupid because he couldn't stay focused. I say don't worry about the egg until it is cracked and you see a problem with his school work.
