Hi. My name is Lisa and my 12-year son has been diagnosed with ADHD. He started taking meds when he was 8 but after a couple of years of that I took him off the meds. Medication was making his condition worse. His ticks got considerably worse, his appetite was almost non-existant and he just wasn't the son I knew. So, anyway I decided to homeschool him because I felt the teachers did not do much to help him in his new school.

Fast forward to now. I am putting my son back in school in the 7th grade. He will not be medicated. I am joining this group to look for ideas and advice and how to calm his ADHD. I believe the docs incorrectly diagnosed him. He's more of the ADD type who daydreams and cannot focus for very long on most things that do not interest him. Funny though how the Xbox cures him of that! :)

Hi and welcome! i hope you can find what you are looking for in this group. Alot of it is trial and error and or succes with this "add" thing we are battling. I sometimes wish i would have put as much efforts in my schoolwork than i put in my researching ways to help my kids beat this thing. Both my 7 year old twins are ADD and they barely passed first grade this year but i'm hopeful that the second grade will be smoother since it is a recap of the first. Anyways good luck to you and your son fro this upcoming year .
