Hi Everyone,

There have been several post with some very good questions about the adoption process. Adoption is a very emotional, expensive and stressful process so I encourge everyone to network and do as much research as possible. I have a list of several books I used during the process which I found extremely helpful. I have listed them below. I encourge others to add to my list.

Thanks

Cynthia

RESOURCES

"The Complete Book of International Adoption" (2006) by Dawn Davenport. (This book was very helpful through the whole process including with the adjustment when we arrived home with our new son.

"RISK AND PROMISE a handbook for parents adopting a child from overseas" (2006) by Ira J Chasnoff et al.

"The Adoption Resources Book 4th edition" (1998) by Lois Gilman

"Adoption Parenting" (2006) by Jean MacLeod.

Adding on:

I Wish for You A Beautiful LIfe (letters from Korean birth mothers to their children but a worthy read for any adopting parent... tissue warning)

Chinese Adoption Handbook (also has sections for Korean adoption. excellent for learning the nuts and bolts of the process, knowing your I600 from your I600A and such)

When You Were Born In Korea (there is also one for Vietnam)... beautiful black and white photography, well written, for sharing with the kids and great for sharing with older siblings while waiting!
