That is so sweet. I was adopted at 4 days old and I remember asking my dad that. My son is biologically mine and he is 5 he does ask also (he is half adopted) so that might have something to do with it.

Very sweet conversation but shows the insecurities and confusion that many adopted children have that have been through the long processes that be through birth parents, foster carers etc. If mine said that I would say something like "Well I am your Mommie forever so you dont need to wish for that" and maybe elaborate to help make a clearer understnading for her.. one she can visualise eg "You know when you get older and go to school... I will still be your mommie"... "You know when you go to bigger school and college, I will still be your mommie".. "When you grow up and get a job and have babies of your own I will still be your mommie", I will be your mommie forever. I am your mommy always... ok? and then move conversation on to ask what she would like to be when she grows up etc etc.
