I am an African-American author of a children's book series is entitled, "Loopiethotamus, The Chihuahua Who Thinks He is a Hippopotamus." I created the character in 2006. It is about a baby chihuahua who is adopted into a hippopotamus family. Mama Hippo shows him unconditional love. She sews him a hippopotamus suit and names him Loopiethotamus. These are very endearing books, in which the main character Loopiethotamus teaches children that love can come in all shapes, sizes, colors and cultures. The books rhyme and are geared for children 3 years old to 8 years old.
The first two books of the so far 18 book series, "His Life" and "His Journey" have been published by Authorhouse. "A Loopiethotamus Christmas" is set to be available July 2012. The books are available at http://www.loopiebooks.com/ http://www.authorhouse.com/ http://www.amazon.com/ http://www.barnesandnoble.com/ http://www.booksamillion.com/ as well as other sites.
I would appreciate your support. Please visit my website- Loopiebooks.com. I am available for book readings, book signings, speaking engagements, etc. There are not many African American female children book authors out there. I am trying to gain as much exposure as I can. Thank you and God bless all of your dreams and endeavors.
