Just a quick question about 10 week week old sleeping habits. My daughter has recently been sleeping for longer periods of time at night. For example, I laid her down at 11pm last night and she did not wake up until 11:30 this morning. I didnt think babies slept for long periods of time like that. Is this normal? If not what could be the problem?

Oh yeah it's completely normal. My baby started sleeping through the night at 5 weeks old, which was ok'd by the doc. She only slept 5 hours at that time. Now she is 15 weeks old and sleeps anywhere from 8-10 hours of sleep a night. And if you're baby is sleeping longer than usual than it could mean that he/she is going through a growth spurt.

My son did his first 9 hour stretch of sleeping when he was 10 weeks old. The only reason it wasn't a longer stretch is because I kept going into his room to check on him, and eventually tripped on something, which woke him up. Enjoy the longs sleeps while they happen and don't stress about it unless there are other problems with her health (ie: not gaining weight etc)

As long as she is eating and growing well, consider yourself lucky!

If everything seems normal when she is awake, she is probably fine. Has she got a cold?

It is within normal range. "Normal" for a 10 week old night sleeping is anything from waking every 2 hours, to sleeping for 12 hours straight. Between 8 and 14 weeks is when most babies start to sleep a longer stretch - this longer stretch can be as few as 5 hours or as much as 12 hours. (Which is why 5 hours is considered "sleeping through the night" until they are 6 months). Just go with it. There is nothing wrong, you just have a naturally good sleeper. Enjoy the sleep while you are getting it as it commonly changes again at about 5 months.

definately not common but you're lucky! i was the same - from 5 weeks on my baby slept from 7 30-7 (and still does at 1 year) many will tell you to wake baby for a feed, but as long as she's eating well through the day and doesn't begin to lose weight then let her be and enjoy your sleep :)

She is fine and consider yourself lucky!! My son has been sleeping 7hrs a night from 1 month old till about 2.5months and since then 9-12hrs a night. Your daughter is able to sleep through the night because she has the ability to "self-soothe" which is what helps babies sleep longer at night. And there is no "normal" for a babies sleep patterns.

My son was sleeping the same at 9-12 weeks and then kapow with a growth spurt it went haywire and I ended up dealing with him waking up 7-10 times per night...so enjoy it :)

There really is no "normal" when it comes to babies and sleep. Just enjoy it while it lasts. :)

Every baby is different. Some sleep through from day one, some don't manage sleeping through until over a year old. Just enjoy it whilst it lasts! Some babies who sleep through earlier can start waking during the night later on but fingers crossed this will continue.

She could be getting ready to have a growth spurt. All children are different, my first never slept through the (and he's 8 now ;) and my second slept 9 hours from the time we got home from the hospital and by about 8-10 weeks was sleeping 10-11 hours a night and she was exclusively breastfed and gaining tons of weight...I guess she just ate enough during the day to compensate, I dont know. :) I dont think your daughter has a problem, enjoy that she sleeps...if she is just growing it may not last long :)
