3 week old baby congested, coughs and sneezes. Is it a cold?

No she has not spit up since she was two days old but she does hold milk in her mouth then let it roll out her mouth

does your baby spit up milk or have any reflux issues. Just wondering because I noticed my baby sounds stuffy after milk comes up through her nose. This happens mostly when she is laying flat at night so I try and put her to sleep on an incline. Coughing also could be from reflux.

Yes my daughter is seventeen days old and I am having the same concerns she sneezes a lot and has been coughing lately but no fever.

My daughter is now nearly 7 months old and she was stuffy (on and off) for the first couple of months. She used to sneeze a lot too until she was 3 months old! I used saline drops to clear her nose if it was affecting her sleep or feeding, a good one is Nasosal (although im in UK so not sure if you will have that exact one in US) Make sure it is something that can be used from birth though. I agree with Meghan though, if you are really worried about your sneezing and congested 3 week old baby then take him to the doctor just for peace of mind. I think it is quite common for newborns to be stuffy for a while after birth. Hope this helps!

my son got a lil stuffy about that time too i asked the dr and she told me to get little noses saline solution n puff it in his nose n it should clear him rite up in a day or two she also recommended a humidifier or a fan (not blowing on the baby but circulating the air in his bedroom)

My 3rd stayed congested for 3 months!! We bought nasal drops and sucked her nose out 3-5 times a day. We had to keep taking her to the dr just to make sure it didn't turn into anything and thankfully it didn't. Ask the peditrician what they recommend for your congested 3 week old baby..humidifier, propping the crib up, etc.

Newborns are often congested, so it's not a cold. My daughter was like that too, for at least a couple of months. I wouldn't worry about your congested 3 week old. Cute baby too! :)

It may that his nasal passages haven't developed yet. My son was the same way. He's still the same to this day. And yesterday he was outside a little more, so he was congested this morning, but it clears up on it's own. It may also be allergies. Mine seems to have them, but his own immune fights it off and it doesn't seem to bother him! A friend of mine's son had a cold, and from what she told me, you would know if it was a cold!

I did and when I took him to the drs she said it was just still just fluid from birth. and if he was delivered by c sec it will take a lil longer. hope that helps a bit with your congested 3 week old baby.

My 4 week old son sounds realllly congested.  I often wonder how the heck he can breath!  It doesn't seem to be in his nose  -  it eems to be all in his throat and back of his throat.  I wish I could take him to the dentist and use that vacuum like hose thing to clear out the mucus!

It was suggested by the doc to get a cool mist humidifier for his room.  Although this does seem to be helping - it isn't quick enough for my liking (as I've been using it for just over 1 week with no signifigant improvement in my opinion).  It was also suggested to get a vaporizer for his room as well.  So I am going out today to look for a larger humidifier that pumps out the moisture a bit better and of course a vaporizer.

I feel so helpless that he doesn't have the strength or knowledge to just spit the flem out :(

My daughter is 2 months old, and sometimes she coughs a little, she sounds a little congested but she isn't sick. He might not be sick, but just to ease your mind I would take your congested 3 week old to his peds. doctor.
