My son had some loose stools on Tuesday and then before bed had diarreha for the first time. He continued it on Weds. so i called his pedo dr. at 11 am and no call back, then at 2 pm and no call back. Then at 4 pm he drank 6 ozs of Similac Advanced formula and projectiled it out. SCARY! I put another call in to his dr. cause i didn't know if i should try to refeed him or not and if at his age he could try pedialyte. 15 mins. passed and still no call so i went ahead and fed him another 3 ozs of formula and 3 ozs of pedialyte. he did fine with it and then at 4:30 the dr called me back. She said just to keep him hydrated and watch his temp. I told her his rectal temp was 100.6. She said not too extremely high so to watch it and it was ok to give him pedialyte and suggested baby yogurt to help put the good bacteria in his system. This morning at 3:30am my son had diarreha and my husband wanted us to go get some different formula for him to try for a day or two. I bought Similac sensative Isomil soy at walmart. They were the only store open. I wanted the Similac Isomil DH now called Similac Diarreha formula, but they didn't have it. Does anyone out there know if the Similac sensative Isomil soy is going to be better for his diarreha or could it make it worse? He also had this formula when he was about a week old and did fine with it.

Thank you Katie. That makes me feel better. I know he is going to get sick, but in the past 2 wks we have only been out twice. Once to the mall and once to costco. My husband and i are always washing our hands and using sanitizer so not sure how he caught it if it is a bug. :( I was so happy at 3:30 today he ate 2 T rice cereal, 1/2 container of yobaby and 6 ozs Soy Formula. He did go in the middle of eating, but was more like pudding and dark dark green. Not watery and yellow. I think that is a good sign.

My son is on the Soy formula and when my son had an ear infection and the antibiotics gave him diarrhea, the doctor had said that they perscribe soy to babies with diarrhea cuz it was the best thing for them. But like the doctor said keep him hydrated. If you want to help stop the diarrhea feed him some baby oatmeal or banana baby food to help plug him up. Just keep watching his temp too cuz my doctor says anything higher than a 101.5 needs emergency help. Give him some baby Tylenol for his fever too it will help bring it down. Or if you don't want to use medicine just keep him in a diaper and give him a luke warm bath. Hope he feels better!! And sometimes the doctor doesn't always knows whats best if you have that mother's intuition that something is terribly wrong then it probably is. Don't hesitate to take him in you'd rather be safe than sorry
