My son is 8 weeks tomorrow, and my whole family has the cold, he hasn't seemed to to have caught it yet, but the last two days has had a really watery stool.. not all the time, just once.. The nurse said that it is probably just a virus, but i was wondering could that be a reaction to him getting the cold the rest of the family has.. he doesn't have a running nose, or sound congested at all???

Short answer is ... maybe. And you will probably never know.

Newborns can have all sorts of different poo, watery, runny, sticky, hard, pastey, the list goes on, and it is all considered normal. As is the tremendous range of colours it can be.

There may or may not be a reason for his watery stool. Yes it might be the cold, or it might not. Sorry this doesnt give you a definate answer. :)

My daughter developed this around the same age and stayed that way. She was also very unsettled all the time hiccups alot couging alot. She had silent reflux and it turns out it was caused by milk protein intolerance so we switched her to soy and havnt looked back, the motions have firmed up feeding better perfect lil angel except that now shes teething lol Im not saying thats what your problem is just something to keep in the back of your mind to keep an eye on
