Every mum is different. I didn't put much weight on - I just got a bump! 1st baby weighed 8lb 15oz and I was back in my jeans in about 2-3 weeks. 2nd baby was 8lb 4oz and I was back in my jeans after a week (which made the midwife very grumpy/jealous!). I didn't try to avoid gaining weight or try to lose it. I guess I'm just built that way. It's nature and we shouldn't worry too much about it or go mad trying to change it.

This is my 2nd child and I gained less weight with this pregnancy, but still seem to be at the same size post-pregnancy as child #1, so I am frustrated. I know with the first, it seemed to take forever to look weight and I didn't really see myself change until I stopped breastfeeding. And then of course, 2 months later, I got pregnant again : >)

Quoting Natalie:
I think it depends on the person as some women lose it quickly and some lose it at a slower rate and it also has to do with how much you put on during pregnancy, your fitness level and what you eat - breastfeeding helps too. I put on 13kg during my pregnancy and have lost all but 1 kg and it has been 6 weeks(in saying that my tummy will never be the same haha)
I'm exactly the same!! I think I've lost all the weight I will from my tummy (most of it went to my legs!) but it definitely will never be the same again

my dr told me at my 6 week check up "it takes 9 months to put the weight on, so it'll take around 9 to come off".
also, when you're breastfeeding it's best not to restrict yourself too much. the average woman normally needs 1200 calories a day, but a breastfeeding mum needs 1900 :).
After 4 months I've lost half my baby weight. So it does happen!

I have a three month old and BF. I noticed around 8-9 week mark most of my weigh came off. I have lost 35 but still have 30 to go. I gained a lot. I work out everyday and havent lost any weight in awhile. I eat way less but nothing is working for me. Ive convinced myself my body needs the fat to make her milk :) It makes me feel better! I am currently on a high protein low carb and low sugar diet. But I haev to eat to make milk so I do consume more than pre pregnancy.
