allergies or asthma should i schedule another appt with different dr?

Hey ladies,

I have a ten month old little girl. For the life of me I cannot remeber if she has always had a breathing issue or if after she developed RSV in December of 2009 it has never completely gone away. We have EXTREME asthma issues in both sides of our family. I also smoked during pregnancy with her. Issue is when I take her to her dr the lady tells me it is just allergies. I do not think so. I know the signs of asthma and what she has reminds me of that. I am not the only one to see it. We are not smoking around her and change our clothes before even picking her up and she is still having issues...my question is should i just believe the dr, or get a second opinion from a different doctor?

Doctors are starting to find that alot of cases that have been diagnosed as asthma in the past are actually just allergies. I've looked into this quite a bit as I was on a puffer for years, actually 3 different puffers for a while. I moved out of my parents house and moved in with friends who also owned cats and it wasn't until me and my fiance got our own place without cats that after a month or two, I never needed the puffers anymore. Haven't used one for about 2 1/2 years now. Some of your families asthma issues could actually be allergy related. Get a second opinion if it makes you feel better.

if it makes you more comfortable I say you go to another dr. but I believe most dr.s won't say it is asthma b/c it is too early to really tell.
