My daughter will be 1 next month and she wont eat anything other then pureed food, she has no teeth yet and Im wondering if that could be the problem. whenever she tries solid food she just spits it out. we are having a party for her birthday and she will be the only child there unable to eat most of the food

have you try to give her a cookie, mine is 7 months no teeth and the doctor said to start give him cookies, at that age you can also try well cooked rice, the problem is the different texture of the food.

My son will be 1 in two weeks & we just recently got him to start eating solids a bit better. He doesn't have any teeth either, but he can still "gum" certain solid foods like sandwiches, cheerios, baked chicken, etc. Getting him to eat solids has been VERY challenging, because he would also spit everything back out. I just had to stick with it & eventually he starting getting the hang of it. I started out putting the food in his mouth & he's just now understanding that he can feed himself. Good luck! She'll get it! :)

try foods that sh can pick up with her fingures. they have baby star things i got from gerber that desolve in their mouth to get my daughter to start eating people food. She now eats anyting we eat and she only has 5 from teeth. they say as long as they can chew w/ their gums they can eat it and their gums are incredibly strong. She likes cheeros alot! giv that a try..just slowly introduce things infront of them on their tray. let her play with it.. .its all apart of the learning process. She will eventually be interested in what mom has...and trust me ..once she does u will NEVER have any food for yourself! its quite annoying sometimes actually but u gotta love it! :)

Babies without teeth can still do a pretty good job eating solid food with their gums believe it or not! Are you spoon feeding her the pureed food? Cause i'm thinking your daughter might enjoy you feeding her right now and would prefer that attention from you instead of her feeding herself. I would give her cheerios and small chunks of banana and watermelon and other fruits that are sweet and once she tastes them she will probably want more. What finger foods have you tried to give her so far?

I agree, it's not because she has no teeth. My daughter only recently got teeth and before then she was doing fine with solids. Have you tried a variety of foods and textures? Maybe sit down and try eating with her? She might like mimicking you. Maybe she's just not hungry? When are you offering her solids? Before or after milk? Maybe try offering it before her milk? Hope this helps. Maybe you could also see your doc to see if they have any ideas and for peace of mind :)

I dont think it would be anything to do with her not having teeth yet. They can still chew with thier gums. It must just be her preference. Some babies dont like certain textures. Just keep encouraging her, and she will come around in her own time. But if your worried, speak to your health visitor. They may refare you to a speech & language specialist, and they can give you tips on how to help her enjoy solids.

she will get there soon enough, its nothing to be embarassed about, each child develops differently.

My daughter will not chew on rusk sticks like most babies do she would rather use it like a drum stick and bang it on things to make noise lol I sure my daughter will get there soon :D

my son will be one next month also, and doesnt have any teeth. He loves to pick food up and eat it with his hands, sanwiches, meatballs, veges, toast, fruit. Its not that she cant eat it, more she doesnt know how. I started my son on the teething rusks, that teaches them how to chew. they may not have any teeth, but the gums chew the food up just as well

She probably knows that she can not eat the solids that are not pureed because she doesn't have teeth yet. Babies are much smarter then people credit them for (not saying anything bad about you!).
I have heard that the longer it takes for them to come in the healthier it is for them because it is easier to keep them clean, and once they do come in now she will understand a bit better that she has to brush her teeth or let mommy.
