My daughter is 8 months old and she is having major trouble with teething. Her top teeth have been right at the gums for months and they still have not pop through. I have tried everything I can think of and nothing seems to ease her pain. If anyone has any suggestions that would be great

My 6 mo. old is also teething. We use Munchkin Mesh Teethers. You can put fruit in them, put them in the freezer and she sucks the juice out leaving the skins inside. They seem to work very well, numbs her gums for a while. They can be a bit messy though.

We just started using the Hyland's Teething Tablets last night. My son slept 11 hours for the first time in weeks. Also a cold, wet washcloth to chew on works as well.

My daughter has had the same problem in spurts...we used Tylenol at first and that didn't work very well by itself. She won't use teething toys she will only chew on her fingers. We had many people tell us to get some whiskey and rub it on her gums. So even though I was hesitant due to giving my daughter any amount of alcohol, we tried it and it worked. It isn't enough or often enough to hurt her. Dip your finger in it and rub it on her gums. We would give it to her and let it sit for a bit then give her a bottle and she would drift off to sleep and she would drift off to sleep and be fine. We only did this at nite as that seemed the only time she really had problems. Hope you find something that works for you. I know how hard it is to see your child in pain and feel like there isn't anything you can do to help. Good luck!

I really like Camillia by Boiron, which is a homeopathic remedy. You can find it at Whole Foods or many health food stores (or online.) It comes in little squeezable vials, so you just squirt it into the side of baby's mouth. She loves it!!

I am going through it right now with my 8 month old daughter, what i do is just take a clean wash cloth and wet it and then put it in the freezer. it will numb the gums and also help for them to chew on and get those teeth through. if youu would rather just by the night time ora-gel that has the more numbing it also helps.

My mother in law gave my son a green onion to munch on. Guess he's supposed to munch on the white part. So far it seems to help. Sounds kinda gross, but he likes it. Humphrey's is also supposed to be good. The onion is supposed to ease the pain.

Yes I actually took my daughter to the doctors today because she started running a fever and she has had quite a few ear infections already. They checked her and said her ears look good but she might be starting a cold so I have to keep a watch on her if she still has a fever by Thursday I have to take her back. My door said when a baby teething sometimes they will pull at there ears which she has been doing. Her top gums are so swollen and they are right there thoses four teeth it just seems like forever she has been suffering with this. I have done most of what everyone has suggested and still have not found the cure as of yet. Something will have to work eventually. You would think being a mother of three I would have all the answers but I don't. Everyone one of my children have been different and everyday is a learning experience.

My daughter is 9months old and is teething as well. I give her frozen fruit in the mesh chewie. Its a mesh bag that you can put frozen fruits such as grapes, watermelon, and bananas which is what I do. She loves it! I also use hylands teething tablets which seem to work. I WILL NOT use orajel because the gel can actually numbe their throats stopping them from breathing. I avoid any numbing gels. I also give her baby tylenol or the generic now since the tylenol recall. Teething rings refrigerated not frozen. I tried them frozen and they gave my daughter frost bite on each side of her poor little mouth. I recently received a pacifier teether which she seems to love. Its soft and chewie. I heard of people giving their babies frozen bagels with the skin cut off, frozen waffles, and dill pickles. The pickles before they have teeth so they don't actually bite it. I havent done the frozen bagel or waffle yet. I stick to the norm for right now until she can chew her food good. She has two teeth on the bottom. Her favorite though is the mesh chewie. She loves the taste of the fruit. The fruit is cold and seems to relieve.

I am sure you know because you have more than one child already, but 2 weeks ago Wednesday my son-8.5 months old now, started behaving nothing like himself. He was screaming ALL the time. I thought it was teething, so I bought the tablets, gave him things to chew on, etc. Finally, last Monday, I took him to the doctor because it was not lessening, and come to find out he has an ear infection! :( He has calmed down significantly since then. However, he still has NO teeth!

We do a shot of Tylenol and a few of the hylands tablets when the pain is bad. I've also put a washcloth with one of the corners wet in the freezer and then when it's frozen give it to them to chew on.

Not sure if you are UK or US. However, if UK then try Anbesol which is a liquid pain relief you apply directly to the area - it's fantastic. I discovered it with my 2nd daughter as she is dairy allergic. Alternatively, Nelson Teetha (Boots stores do their own version) which is a natural product containing Chamomile, not only good for teething but also for temper tantrums as calms baby down!

Good luck ;-)

a friend of mine told me that baby orajel can actually toughen the gums and make it take longer for the teeth to come thru the gums.

Thanks for all the suggestions. I went and got the hylands teething tablets so I will give them a try. So hopefully this works I feel so bad because I know she is in terrible pain and I have done just about everything I could think of . My other two children didn't have this problem there teeth didn't bother them. My baby seems to be a late bloomer with her teeth she got her bottom ones around 7 months and still waiting for thoses top ones. She has been teething since she was about three months but nothing. My other two daughters started getting there teeth around five months.
Thanks again for all your advice I appreciate it

My son also has major problems with teething. When he got his top teeth in it was the same, they were at the gums for about a month until they finally popped through, but the pain didn't stop there. They bothered him until the whole tooth was fully through the gums. I found that switching up different types of things worked as best as possible for him (not completely though, but it gave him some relief). So we would rotate between gripe water and hyland's teething tablets and if it was really bad I would give him children's advil, motrin or tempra. I would also give him whole peeled apples to gnaw on and big chunks of carrot, he seemed to really like that. Also he would suck on cold washcloths now and then. It's so hard though because they're clearly in pain and we just want to help them! Good luck, I hope you find something that works for your little girl!

I second the Highlands Teething Tablets. You can pretty much get them in any retail or drug store. The work wonders. Also if it is really bad you can try a little Tylenol or Motrin. Orajel works for a little bit. Also maybe try something cold. We gave my son frozen home made Popsicles. You can by the molds for them in any store. We filled them up with apple juice. He loves them.

New in certain places is an organic teething gel. Kind of like the oragel but much better for them. I found it worked sooo much better for my Tia when she was teething and she took to it much better than the generic stuff. I hope you can find it. Oh just looked at the name and as Nikki suggested its Hylands, but not a tablet its a Gel :)
