Since my daughter (Bella) turned one she has been getting alot of ear infections and her Doctor recommended going to an ear specialist about getting tubes in her ears. I dont know anything about this and was wondering if anyone had any info. Is 18 months to young?

For my son, it was the best decision! He ended up needing three sets but it really does make them better because they are immediately cured of the symptoms and the recovery time is next to nothing.

Tubes in the ear are when they make a small cut in the ear drum and put a tube in to help the ear drain. It takes about 15 mins in theater and there is miner pain after. How long they last depends on the type your doctor puts in.You will see a notice difference in you child in days. It can also prevent bigger problems later. Reasons for doing it is constant ear infections, cysts in the ears, bad drainage and more.
I would say to do it as my 4 year old has had big ear problems ans has had it done 4 times. It has lowered her risk of having hearing problems and cut out the use of antibiotics for ear infections.

My son got tubes in his ears when he was 10 months old. It was the best decision that i had made when i made the appointment to get his tubes My son had multiple ear infections, he could never take antibotics because his body became so immune to the drugs. It was a 15 minute procedure and my son was just fine when he came out of the operation room. That evening he started to walk and when he was 11 months he tried to run. Now he is 2 years old and he has not had any ear infections or earaches in the past year.
