Any suggestions on babys 1st birthday party?

For a first birthday I would keep it short & simple. You should schedule it around your babe's nap time too. Don't forget there's no rule to say you can't have several get togethers.
For my son's first birthday we wanted to make it special not only to him, but to an animal shelter near & dear to our hearts. We knew he would receive gifts from us, his grandparents and aunts/uncles, but we asked people to bring a b-day card, but also either a monetary donation or item(s) from the shelter's wish list in lieu of a present. We accumulated a boatload of donations and it was an amazing/fun feeling to take this all to the shelter in honour of our guy.
We also had "smash the cake" photos done which were amazingly fun & cute. You can't beat a little boy in overalls getting his hands "dirty" in a cake. We then had the photos on display and had our guests sign a matte with a special message. This now hangs in his room. We also had a special memory box where people could write advice or happy memories of our son. He'll receive this when he's older.
The main thing is to keep it simple - perhaps have people over after the baby's morning nap, then serve light snacks/refreshments/cake for lunch and then the baby will be ready for its afternoon nap following the party. Have fun!

Do a small thing with his grandparents and a few of your friends. The baby will get overwhelmed with all the noise at Chucky Cheese. Remember that mainly the party is for you, so do something that you like, but make it baby-friendly. (places to nap, etc)
