IMO she probably has gas or is colicy.. I think you should ask your doctor before assuming she has night terrors.

I believe babies can only dream about what has happened in there life so I agree with the first post that maybe she is remembering something that has happened that scares her. My daughter is also two months old and does the same thing.

my son did that at that same age scared the hell out of me it only lasted for a very short time. but i still to this day it felt like he was screaming in such a shock he must have stopped breathing or something of that nature, it was so suprised and out of the blue scream. he is perfectly healthy now and has never done it since

I would guess that it might be growing pains that are causing her to wake up screaming and not night terrors. Right about 8 weeks (a little before or after) is a normal growth spurt, and some babies just grow so quickly that the bones and muscles ache and spasm at night.

Also, I just asked a friend about this and she reminded me that babies can become over stimulated from too much touching and other stimuli throughout the day. The crying may be the only way baby can release and get some comfort. Think of it like our wind down down at the end of the day.

Our baby boy was very cranky, crying at odd times. At his two month appt our doctor switched him to soy formula and he's been great ever since. I felt terrible that it was a problem with his food but just didn't realize the problem.

My son turned 2 April 7th & he still wakes up screaming out of the blue sometimes he will even cry in his sleep...A couple nights ago he woke up like 4-5 times screaming...It could be just Night Terrors but I don't remember my son having night terrors at 2 mo I know he started getting them about 3 or 4 months

YES my son started night terrors around a month old. he would just scream out of nowhere and be fully asleep when i went to him. alot argue with me that its just gas but i dont buy it. He is over 5 months now and the last one he had was about 3 weeks ago, they are horrible to watch expereince :(

I have heard, not 100% if it is true or not, that babies have dreams about their delivery; the bright light, environment change, temp change etc. And wake up crying because they remember the shock of it. So it may just be that. That being said, my 4 year old has slept like complete crap since she was an infant. She would randomly wake up screaming like that and it wasn't because she was wet or hungry, she would just scream!!! It turns out, she has an extremely rare birth defect. Even at 4 years old, most nights she will start crying and screaming in her sleep and nothing is wrong with her. She has also recently started talking in her sleep! Before she was a year, she saw an eye dr for a lazy eye. He noticed that the openings in the back of the eye were smaller than they should be, which apparently is a sign that something may be wrong in the brain. She had an MRI done, we saw a neurologist, and found out she has a cleft in her brain. I'm certainly not telling you this to try and scare you or anything like that. I think you should talk to your doctor at your childs next check-up. (mine all got shots at 3 months, so that would be coming up soon.) They most likely won't really do anything about it at this point since she is only 2 months old. But at least than they are aware of it so if it doesn't stop by like a year, they can investigate it further. If it hasn't gone away by a year, I would be pushing for an MRI to make sure there's nothing going on there; only because of my own experience. She could also be experiencing pain from soemthing else. (It's common for older children to wake up from "growing pains") It may also be nothing; she might just not sleep well right now. I hope you're able to figure it out!!
