Has anyone tried Dana Oblemans "Sleep Sence Program"? I am struggling with my 9 month old as she wakes 3-4 times through the night. Wondering if this program has helped anyone?

There is a huge controvery with this question. Lots of terrible remarks by people who believe one way or the other. I, however, stand firm on this method.

My child was 9 months old and wouldn't sleep. I was at my wits end. So, I tried the cry-it-out method. It worked within a day and a half. He now is able to put himself back to sleep without my having to go in and do it for him. This, in turn, leads to a much healthier sleep since everyone wakes up 3 or 4 times a night (even we do it). He now sleeps through anything. No noise wakes him up at all. Best thing we ever did was teach him how to fall asleep.

First thing, stop the "before bedtime" feedings. At 9 months old, they don't need that last bottle. Just give them a little oatmeal before bed instead.

Second thing, stop rocking her to get her to sleep. Bedtime rituals are necessary also so that she knows it's bath, book, and then bedtime (or whatever your ritual is). If you rock her to sleep, she will wake up and expect to be rocked back to sleep because she doesn't know how to go to sleep otherwise. Just sing her a song while standing up and put her down awake.

When she starts to cry, give it 5 minutes and then go in and check on her, but don't pick her up. Then, give her 10 minutes, and then 15 until she falls asleep. We only had to do this for about a half hour and then he fell asleep. The second time (morning nap), it was only 15 minutes. Then, he eventually did it on his own. I swear it was only a day and a half.

Be strong! It stinks listening to her cry, but you are doing the best thing for her by letting her learn how to sleep on her own. She will have deeper, more restful sleeps.

I just started the sleep sense program after reading your post. I was desperate. My son will be 6 months on the 28th and he was waking every hour and a half to two hours all night long! I was exhausted and desperate! I paid the 50 bucks to get the book and we are on night 5 of the program. It is extremely difficult to listen to him cry BUT he has been sleeping through the night! We are BOTH getting a good night's sleep! Definitely worth it and I'd recommend it to anyone!!

Kimberly, if you look this up on the internet-Dana Oblemans "Sleep Sence Program" it will explain what its all about. Of course you need to pay before she gives you too much information which is why I wanted to hear from someone who has tried it before. A nursing strike sounds like no fun for you. I have been having luck with the crying it out method. On day 4 now and she is only waking twice at night not 4 or 5 times! but each bub is different and unfortunatly there is no brilliant solution for them all. It can be so exhausting trying to find the right method for you though hey. Good luck, hope it doesn't take you too long.
