my baby is six months old last week. she was on the 0-6 mnths formula. now that she is 6 mnths do i move her straight onto the 6-12 mnths formula?? it looks much thicker. she is on a bottle in the morning of 7oz then breakfast/lunch and 2 oz of formula then dinner and 2 oz formula then 5-6 oz formula at bed time.

like everyone says its entirely up to you.

switch if you want to.

but there is no need to think that you have to switch. as i said theres added nutrients that an older baby needs .. but if their having a balanced diet its not essential .. the extra iron and stuff will just come out in their nappys

i know i said that its a little more pricey .. only by a couple of pence (about 60p-90p more i think) but to some people that may matter.

i guess my sons formula (aptamil easy digest) tbh is one of the most expensive formulas there is .. but we're able to afford it and it works for him .. so i find no need to switch.

i actually found regular and follow on formula really "bubbly"

but i suppose not all babies struggle to digest their milk.

so if you think it helps i'd switch .. but i suppose having too many nutrients is better than having too few.

i hope that helps.

I know the formula I use has 0-12 month and then 6-12 month. They're both the same price though. I think it depends, like if you're already giving your child solids 3 times a day, then the 6-12 month formula would probably be the way to go.

absolutely... and there is no price difference, well not for us.. and your bub does need the next stage as the formula is made for that age group with a larger amout of nutrients to keep your baby growing and developing..

I don't see any reason not to. She is 6-12 months. My daughter has been on a high calorie formula (preemie formual) which is real thick and we ran out of our prescription so I started feeding her the sample term formulas I had around the house and then switched her back a week later when Her formula came in. she did just fine, no problems at all.

my hv told me theres no point really. it seems to cost more.

the only difference is there is added iron .. but if your baby gets plenty of iron in their solids and has a wide variety of food .. theres absolutely no point in doing the switch.

however saying that .. i've always been slightly anemic so i did switch my son over at 6 months BUT i ended up switching him back to his regular formula .. since he's always had problems with getting his wind out and regular formula just made it worse.

he's almost 9months and been on a thicker easier to digest formula from 4months.

I did. The 6-12 months formula has differant nutrients in it that are more specified for that age group

I did the same. My lil boy has Karicare and we have just started on the 6 months follow on formula and he loves it. No difference really :)
