Yup warm olive oil is best, so if they rub and suck their hands it won't hurt them. I used to put it on after a bath and then rub it in with a soft baby brush. I'd leave it on all night. Fixed it within a week. Good luck!

My baby had the same thing when he was about 6weeks old. I went to his pediatrician (despite my parents/grandmother telling me it was normal and would clear up on his own) when it was covering his whole face and was bright red and kind of "hard". She prescribed a really mild hydrocortisone cream which we put on once a day. It cleared right up and has not come back. Also, I asked about his cradle cap (which was really bad) and she said it was due to overactive oil glands. Use baby oil or olive oil, let it sit for about 5 minutes, brush gently with a baby brush and then wash it out completely. If you leave any oil in it will act up again. Good luck...it will go away.

for the cradle cap i used baby oil and gently brushed it in with a baby brush took it away in a week. I am now struggling with the baby acne and I actually took my daughter to the doctor they told me it is normal and to put a light coating of aquafor on it and they said it could last 3-4 months and then it should go away.

Hi Shareda,
My son had several outbreaks of cradle cap as a young baby. We would rub coconut oil into his hair 20 minutes before a bath and then wash it out. That seemed to work well. It finally went away after a month or so, but then resurfaced as eczema on his face. We tried all sorts of creams and oils but ended up discovering that flax seed oil works wonders! All you have to do it apply it to his skin after a bath every day. It completely cleared up my son's skin problems! Sometimes he'll get a few patches of flakey skin near his scalp bu if I rub flax oil on it once a day, it usually goes away in 24 hours. Good luck!

what I did for mine was after a bath - i would lotion her head with eucerine lotion and then brush it out. When she had facial outbreaks, eucerine help with that but if it got bad, I use medicated blistex chap stick. my doctor approved of it, just make sure to stay away from the eyes.

milk spots??? Babies can get spots if they are too hot too, or allergic to a substance (called contact excema). The most common reason babies get spots though is through excess sebum being excreted by sweat glands as babies can not control thier own heat, the sweat is excreted through the skin to try and regulate body temperature. Putting oily products on can make it worse.

Shareda...Outbreak as in flaky skin like the cradle cap? Or as in spots? If it looks just like cradle cap just put some vaseline on his face. This is the safest way of treating babies with cradle cap. You dont actually have tot reat it at all, It will go away by itself. If baby is getting irritated by it, it looks too dry then apply the vaseline. If your seeing an outvreak of spots, this could be baby acne and you'l need to take him to the doc to get it treated.

Any kind of oil will help, leave it in his hair until it all soaks in, usually during a feed, and by the time you put him on the other side it's ready to comb out... I found that a 'baby comb didn't work, so I used a 'medium' strength toothbrush, it helps heaps!

Baby oil works great for my baby girl. I apply it on her head and her face, leave it on for about an hour and then I comb it off for her hair and wash her face... Comes out pretty nicely!!
