My daughter Eliana was born with long hair and it's just gotten longer in the last 5.5 months. She must move her head back and forth ALOT at night b/c in the morning the whole back of her hair is knotted and tangled so much it's almost dredlocks. LOL I use leave in conditioner to get it out and it works fine. but i was wondering if any other moms have had this problem and how you prevent it from happening. After I comb it out it's so kinked and feather like and in spots it looks shorter b/c the hair has been broken/riped.

We just cut the knots out of my daughter's hair too. In the last couple of months we changed from fleece sheets to plain cotton sheets and it seemed to help... or it could be that her hair just got long enough not to knot as easily... or that she's started sleeping more on her tummy... I don't know, but we've had the same problem.

This is how my son got his first haircut...I tried to just cut out the dreadlocks because they were getting too hard to detangle everyday. So I cut those out which were on the back of his head also and then the top looked too long and five minutes later he had his first haircut.

I have to wet my daughter's hair every morning! LOL! I can totally relate! The only thing I can recommend is wetting her hair completely before you comb it out.....maybe even put in conditioner again?! I know some people who bath their kids in the morning just because of this problem! Good luck!

If baby sleeps on back you could try pony tails on the side of her head, or braids? I really have no clue, just a thought. I know what you mean though, my son's hair is about 2 inches long and his does the same thing.
