my baby girl is almost 10m old but still refuses to eat anything not pureed. she picks up the finger food and plays with them but doesn't eat them nor does she allow us to put it into her mouth. should I be worried? what can I do to help her eat bite sized food?

thank you. that helps. she really is good at eating in the sense that she eats all fruits and veggies, cereals, cooked rice. i'll try to change the texture slowly and let her get used to it.

try adding more texture to her purees. I make my own babyfood and it's super easy to change the consistency of the food. Some babies need a more gradual introduction to foods. even if you're getting premade baby food, you can add to it to change the consistency. Also, try giving baby finger foods that are very smushy (slices of avocado, pieces of strawberry, etc) It'll make a mess, but kids seem to lack that best! :) Hope it works!

Actually babies do need to start solid foods at 6 months. My son enjoys eating cereal with bm or water for breakfast, and his fruits and veggies at dinner time and off and on eats what my husband and I eat at dinner time. it really depends on what your daughter is used to. I'm really not too worried about my son not eating finger foods, he's tried mum mums and isn't too sure what to do with them yet. In time he will want to eat finger foods.

No need to be worried, she's only 10 months old. Babies don't NEED solid foods for the first year, although the vast majority of babies do start before then. My baby girl is almost 8 months old and basically refuses to eat anything other than breast milk. Maybe your little girl just doesn't like the feel/texture. Or she just doesn't want to! Just keep offering the solid foods and eventually she will eat. At least she is eating the mushy food lol
