Not really sure where you are, but you can search online for slings and you should get a decent return. Personally I am going with a ring sling, I'm not comfortable with the kangaroo type pouch, but not everyone can handle the A-symetrical design of a ring sling.

I think Babyhawks are a great first carrier. It is a mei tai.. you can wear baby on the front or the back. I love carrying my daughter on my back.. so easy to get housework done and keep her happy at the same time!

http://www.babyhawk.com/ You can find them second-hand on ebay too.

I do not recommend carriers like Bjorn, Snuggli, etc. They are very uncomfortable for both mom and baby. Carriers like babyhawk are comfy and will last you through toddlerhood.

There are so many kinds :D We started out with a Maya wrap. I had a WAHM to make a ring sling for me once. then we got a mia tie and now I have an Ergo. They are a life saver though! With a little baby I'd use a ring sling:D

I decided to go with the Moby wrap. I love that you can carry your baby in several different ways. I will say that at first it is a little hard to get used to how tight to tie the wrap so your baby wont sag in the wrap. After I purchased the Moby wrap I stumbled on the Sleepy Wrap. With the sleepy wrap you don't have to worry about how lose to tie the wrap, you tie is snuggly to your body.

Hi, my baby girl LOVES being held against my chest like a little koala so i got a hug a bub carrier http://www.hugabub.com/ i compared a few but i liked this one better because it is a soft cotton and i found it more comfortable for me and the baby than some of the more structured ones like baby bjorn. It took a little bit of practice learning how to tie it up properly but i love it. Caitlin normally falls asleep in it straight away and i can get on with whatever needs doing. I
