Baby is a restless sleeper--kicks and thrashes all night, even when swaddled

My three month old kicks and flings his arms about--sometimes he wakes himself, sometimes not, but he certainly doesn't seem to be getting restful sleep. I swaddle him, but he's still kicking his legs, and eventually works his arms out. Anyone else experience this, and what did you do?

Neither of my children liked being swaddled so I didn't do it. I do use a sleep sack though - like a sleeping bag that does up over their shoulders. They can wave their arms about and lift their legs but still stay warm.

My son does the same thing. I swaddle him extra tight and rock him a little, to distract him, this works most of the time.

My baby is also 3 moths old and she does the same thing. I sometimes pick her up and hold her tightly in my arms and rock her a bit just so that she can settle and then I put her down again and she will stay calm. I only do this when I see that she is tossing and turning for a while. But most of the time she will settle on her own.
