The APA and world health organization both warn against Babywise due to it leading to issues with "failure to thrive", dehydration, poor weight gain, increased risk of SIDS, and several other issues. I would be very hesitant to try any of their techniques.

i honestly hate babywise...it simply isn't appropriate for very young babies. the methods have been strongly criticized by the american academy of pediatrics and la leche league. newborns and young infants are not designed to sleep through the night...the frequent waking is a survival method used to keep babies alive and moms milk supply up. I am a registered nurse and i can tell you that we were taught that this new method of sleep training was not only unnatural but can be very dangerous for some infants. I will include a link or two but i would really recommend doing some more research...a better sleep resource is the baby sleep book by dr.sears...i recommend it to every new mom i know! good luck

Hi!

My sister-n-law and best friend introduced me to the babywise method because I admire how well their kids behave. I have been using it and it does work. My daughter was born 5 weeks early so I try to make adjustments where I see fit ... but she has been sleeping through the night since 8 weeks (5 hours) she is now 4 months and sleeps 10-12 hours at night (this is with the late night feeding). She wakes up from her naps with coos and smiles! I love it. She is very content throughout the day. I had a hard time with the cry it out method that is in the book so I would talk softly to her to let her know that she was ok. She now just talks herself to sleep.

I do recommend the babywise method book ... it really teaches you about how a routine helps you and the baby.
