Like you I did not have back pain before having my baby but did have pain in my back during my labour and after the birth. I found that bending over constantly made my problem worse, so whe nmy son was about 2 1/2 months old I started changing him on my settee (so I could sit next to him and not bend too much) I found this helped. Also I started doing basic Yoga as I found this helped me to balance my body correctly and not put so much strain on my back. Also in the short term a nice hot water bottle on the place where your back hurts is fab. If it continues much longer I would consider going to the drs to ensure it is just muscle pain and not something more serious.

i never had any back pain before giving birth to my daughter either. but during labour she was posterior, pressing on my spine the whole time, and never turned around. since then i have had a lot of pain. HEAT PACKS WORK WONDERS! try going to a chiropractor, or physiotherapist- i seen a physio, (as it was quicker to get an appointment, as id seen him before, after knee surgery.) they can give you a range of exercises to try, and that helped me quite a lot. good luck and i hope you get it sorted out soon.

Congtatulations on your natural delivery! I am really glad that I had my son drug free, too. Anyway, I am sorry to hear that your back is hurting you. It is NOT normal for you to be in so much pain. Labor and pregnancy can do a number on the bones in your spine. While heating pads, stretching, and pain pills will temporarily relieve your symptoms, nothing will get to the root of your problem and keep the pain from ever coming back like a good chiropractor. I hope you will consider going to one. Make sure they take full spinal x-rays before the first adjustment and that they advocate educating patients. I have made chiropractic a part of my lifestyle and it is one of the best decisions I ever made. I pretty much had a symptom free pregnancy and with all the bending and lifting I do as a new mom, my chiropractor has continued to keep my back pain free.
