I have begun feeding my son solids (baby rice) I have tried feeding him after his bath, but he has been too tired and grizzly and didn't really want it. Today he even fell asleep while I was trying to feed him. What time of the day is best to feed him solids? I would like to be able to do it after I return home from work. I come home around 3:30pm. Thank you

I read that any time that is good for you is good for them. Basically, it has to be a time when you have time and patience when intoducing solids. Later on, your baby will want to eat at the same times as the family, not just on their own when you want them to. lol

I also read that giving them 1/2 their bottle before is good because they are less likely to get frustrated. If yo try to feed them solids when they are starving, they have less patience... they just want their bottle/ boob!

in the morning and about an hour before bath. in the morning because then you have all day to monitor what happens after you introduce a new food (i.e. potential allergy, constipation, etc.) and rice before bed time to help him sleep through the night -- however, if you can't feed him after bath, then feed him before (about an hour or so prior) -- you don't want to feed your baby anything immediately before bath time -- it's not very good for their stomach. but you can give him milk/formula before bed though (after bath time). good luck!

First thing in the morning is best to introduce all new foods because the baby is generally at their most hungry and is more willing to eat a new food. Start with single ingredient foods (cereal, 1 fruit or 1 veggie or 1 meat) and feed it for a minimum of 3 days to ensure no adverse reactions, then move onto the next food. If mornings don't work, then the very first feeding that comes along when you get home after work, before you start the bedtime routine. Good luck!

my doctor suggested that i start by giiving it to them in the morning time at first and then after a week or two start introducing it a second time of the day (around dinner), thoese are the times when they are the most hungry and likely you will have more success then giving it after a bath time before bed... then at six months after they have accepted the rice cereal you can introduce one new food a week....
