bottle feeding, help

Hi

My lil one is just over 5 weeks old. she came into this world wanting to eat like there is no tomorrow. When I feed her I try and burp her every once, up until now she won't burp for me any more. she gets very fussy and screams until she is pink when her bottle is taken away from her lips.

my question for help is

when do I start giving her, her full 3 oz bottle with out any interuptions of burping?

I'm scared she will become full of gas giving her an upset stomach.

If she wants it let her have it. you can wait until she's done to burp her. she'll take in air while crying anyway. The body has its own equipment to help with expelling gas as well so just burp her when she's done. it won't hurt her.

My daughter was the same way. If I tried to burp her mid-bottle she would freak out. The laying down trick works like a charm but I found another way that's works very well too. Sit your baby between your legs, support their head in your hands and sit them up leaning forward and gentle pat their back. Don't be shocked if it sounds like a sailor burping!

Thank you for the advice. Being a new Mom you sometimes feel like your not sure if your doing something right or wrong. My lil one is doing better today. we both woke up feeling refreshed and happy this morning. however I did figure out that it wasn't only gas that was bugging her but, she was still hungry after all..so she is now up to 4oz and is very content ..well only of course after she burps..

My second son is the same way.  If I lay him down and he is fussy once laid down I simply lift him back up and try burping again. He usually burps on the way back up again.   



I would try to give a full feed anytime.  If she is still trying to feed when you are pulling the bottle away, let  her finish it and then burp.  You might find her spit ups are considerably larger but she will be fine.  She is letting you know she is still hungry.  Feed on Mamma, feed on.  :-)
