Okay so I decided to go with breastfeeding for 3 months and then switch to a bottle. BUT my daughter hates the bottle I try to give it to her and she starts squirming and screaming when Ive been doing it for about 5 mins. At first I tried to give her formula a month ago and she ate it but my mom told me to stop so i kept breastfeeding and now i put her back on formula and she refuses. Today i even tried pumping milk and giving it to her in a different bottle with a different nipple and she still wont...Please help. Ive already tried 3 different bottle nipples and 2 different formulas and breast milk.

Ps. I am going back to school in January so she has to take the bottle.

I agree with Diana... The breast flow bottles will probably be more familiar of a flow.

I mainly breastfeed but every once in a while give my 2 month old son a bottle of expressed milk. I never had a problem with him taking the bottle. I attribute it to the type of bottle I use. I am using the Firstyears Breast Flow bottles. It is more like a breast. It has double nipples to create a natural let down and compression. If none of the other bottles work give it a try. Good luck!!

Also, try giving your baby bottles of expressed milk first to get her use to bottles then switch her to formula once she is taking the bottle. Maybe that will help her transition.

I dont know if i can help with the weaning to bottle i breastfed my son untill he was 8 mo old i only stopped b/c the milk flo stopped. he went to daycare at 6 weeks old so from week 2 i started giving him 1 bottle a day of pumped BM he took to it right away. I work with infants and the only advice i can say as far as the bottles go is the softer the nipple the better. I use Playtex drop in system. The nipples are super flexible and soft if you compare them to others it feels more like a breast. For the formual you shouldnt have to switch brands which may cause tummy achs they actually all should taste similar its just a matter of getting used to the formula. Have you tried mixing formula with breastmillk? i dont know how many oz your daughter takes but if she does 6 oz make 4 oz of it BM and the other 2 formula do this for a day or two then go half and half then finally 2 oz BM 4 formual and then all out formula ... good luck

I've been a bottle feeder from the start (medical reasons sabotaged my breastfeeding efforts) Try the Avent bottles, my daughter even has the little blister that can form on the top lip from breastfeeding. They do cost a little bit, so just get one bottle to see if it works 1st. If it does you can find a 4 pack of the "Classic" bottles at target and some walmarts for 30 bucks. I've also heard Doc Browns are good as well.

I looked at your location, do you live in Deltona, FL? If so Publix is getting rid of their more expensive Avent bottles, I've recently picked up a bunch of them, They are two packs that are two for $16 (Dirt cheap for Avent) They are in the little clearance tower usually on the left side of the store (Yes I have been to that may stores buying them up, I live in Central, Fl)

I had to wean my daughter onto formula at 4 months because i was going back to work. I tried 4 different bottles, nipples, and flows before we got it right. (She likes the playtex ventaire wide bottles with a fast flow nipple) the best way to get her to start taking it is by cutting out 1 feeding at a time, like a middle of the day feeding will be best to start with. Give her to someone else & leave the room. She will refuse formula if she can smell your milk. My daughter had never had a bottle until i starting weaning so it was something she had to get use to but in a month i had her completely weaned, except for her night time feeding before bed. Dont let her get really upset just try to give her a bottle when she would normally feed, she'll eventually catch on to it.

Hi honey, i am trying to get my babe from boob to bottle and HE HATES IT!! Apparently you have to let them cry and really get hungry for the first couple of bottles. I havent been able to do this but i am told that it will work better being someone else, not you. Obviously thats because of the attachment to the breast they have etc. Anyway I have three children, this is my third!! and none of my others had this much of a problem but my last just seems hell bent on staying on the breast!! I have not yet succeeded in giving him a bottle but i will keep trying! Just persist and be strong... Dont get overwhelmed. take care and good luck with school. :)
