Buy a house or have another baby??

First, this is a very personal decision but if the home you are currently in has room for one more than go for it and have another baby. These days people are overly materialistic. There will always be time to buy a house and a car. My husband and I also chose to live in our apt. a few years longer so i can stay home with our daughter. I get from your post that you have already made up your mind: your happy renting and you really want another baby. Don't let what other people view as the"right" way make you second guess yourself.

Oh and to those who say buy house now BECAUSE there is always time to have a baby, they are backwards. Fertility declines through out your thirties and beyond. There will always be houses on the market.

I would go with buying a house first. You would be suprised it doesn't take that long and you will have plenty of time to have another baby soon after. with the car issue... If you get a house first you can get a car next.. if you start paying off a car first then the banks may not even look at giving you a loan for a house until you finish paying it off and if you have the money to buy it out right what money will you have for a deposit on a house?? My partner and I have a little 3 bedroom house that we bought about 6 months ago.. Now that we know what we can afford etc we know that we could have another child right now if we want.

I main concern is that I dont want to work when I have my second and ill have to if we buy a house. I keep thinking that I can always buy a house but I cant bring my kids closer together in age. I want them to grow up as friends.
I absolutely love the house Im in now and I cant see myself moving anytime soon but when people say "Oh your renting and what another baby. Shouldnt you buy a house first?"
I feel like I have to buy for the sake of it and I dont think I want to. We are living very well but with a mortgage and trying to fit in a baby it dont think it would work. I want to be a stay at home mum, I do work 7 hrs a week right now just so I can have adult time but I want to be able to stay home with my newborn and my son for at least 8 months (I went back to work when my son was 8 months old and would like to do the same again)

You will have many decades to pay off your mortagee but only a small window to have children. I say go for it, have another baby!

Hi Megan...I don't think you are wrong for wanting all these things instead of buying a house. As long as you weigh the options, additional costs, and your priorities. You and your fiance have to do what is right and stable for you and your future.



I personally would want the house considering how cheap they are now and the great opportunities that are going on with home ownership. There is nothing like owning your own place. Then I would go back to work and work on baby number two. While working I would save for the car and purchase that by the time the bundle arrives. - Again this just what I would do. Good Luck!

If you want another baby do it i live in an town house and have 2 babies 2 and 1 and we want one more than we are going to buy a house cause i think its more important to stay home with them when there young then have all nice stuff!!

oh boy...thats a tough one! Are you happy in your rental house or do you want to buy a house just for the sake of buying one? Would you be able to afford the house you buy if you had an "oops" and accidentally got pregnant? Children are forever...houses and cars come and go...follow your heart.
