I had my beautiful daughter January 2 2010. My water broke at 9am and labor began, it was different because I had a cerclage placed due to preterm labor. I had the cerlage removed, but not all of it the DR couldnt remove it all??? Strange but true, After being in hard labor and dialating to 9cm the DR realized the cerclage that was stuck in me was preventing me from full dialation and would cause problems if I had a vaginal birth. So I had a C section second one actually . After surgery, I was up tending to my baby soon after birth. I was able to go home two days after she was born, But the nurse came to me and said she needed to remove the staples in my stomach before I went home. This was strange to me because my first daughter was born by c section and the staples where left in for two or three weeks. Anyways the nurse took the staples out telling me that we actually heal faster without the staples? Hmmmm, I was just cut open and a baby was removed from my stomach and the wound will heal faster without being held shut? It didn't make sense to me but hey they went to school to be DR's and Nurses right. Well the day after I went home from the hospital I was pumping in between feedings and I felt a gush between my legs. It actually felt like my water broke again. I looked down and there was blood everywhere, I rushed into my bathroom thinking I was just bleeding alot from having a baby, not normal but could happen right? Well as I was wiping and trying to clean the area I realized the blood was gushing from my wound, I looked in my full mirror and got to see the wound opened, Very opened and blood was gushing out, I grabbed a maxi pad and held it to my stomach as hard as possible. My 13 yearold daughter was there I yelled for her to call her dad, I called 911 the ambulance came took me to the hospital closest to my house, (not the one I gave birth at) The Dr looked at my stomach and said itll be ok this is normal just keep clean bandages on it. To me it seemed like I was trying to stop the river with a twig and not a damn. None the less I listen to the DR. I called my OB the next day because the wound opend again and was bleeding so much I was weak. The OB couldnt see me she was busy with other paitents.(said the front desk receptionist) . I got scared when it opened up again and I couldnt stop the bleeding. I went to labor and delivery where I gave birth. The Dr who saw me was shocked that when he touched my stomach the wound opened up and he could see into my c section wound. The wound was cleaned and packed and I was sent home with my husband who was to change the dressing twice a day. He did so the first day, The second day I felt alot of pain, I could tell it was infected. I went back to the Hospital L&D they found my wound to be very infected and decided to do surgery once again to clean out the would and cut out the bad tissue. That was the first week of my daughters life, now she is 8 weeks old my wound still is opened and not all the way healed. I AM WAITING FOR THE FINAL SECTION TO CLOSE. I hope that will be soon, I would love to get to the gym and play with the kids be an active mom. I think that my days of having kids are done. I can't and dont heal like I used to and cant heal in two days. ( like the nurse told me) If I did ever have another child I would be scared because the dr's said I would have to have another C Section..... Um Iam gonna take a pass on that. And to top off the wound not being healed the cerclage is still stuck inside me, the Dr's have to do another surgery to remove it... Lucky Lucky me,,,, The good news is. My daughter is doing great and I have never been happier in my life, I have been blessed with an amazing husband and three beautiful daughters.
