Hi, my baby is 6 weeks and she has woken with clammy skin, she doesnt have a temp. Just wondering if anyone knows what might cause a clammy baby? I stupidly googled it and read all this stuff about clammy skin relating to SIDS so now im freaked!

Nothing to worry about with your clammy baby. My son runs "warm" as they say, he doesn't have a fever just his natural body temp is a lighter higher than most babies his age. Check her periodically throughout the day, you will see that she is clammy some of the time. What I've learned to do, even though its December and unless its snowing/icy out, I just take my son out dressed. No toque, mittens, jackets. He actually stays nice and warm and is a much happier baby for it too. Be careful in what you dress her for bed, as Jessica said about a thermal blanket for bedtime and you can always put her to bed in a onsie but swaddled up somewhat.

If you see this, leave this form field blank.

oh no dont get too worried about your clammy baby hun, my son is always clammy when he wakes up, but he is a fairly hot baby, so he does get a bit sweaty when he sleeps, but not smelly which is good. Maybe have a re-think what you are dressing her in to go to bed, the type of blankets your using aswell. I went from using a normal cot blanket to a thermal one from target, so it will keep him cool in the heat and warmer in the cold, so i usually just tuck him in with his cot sheet and thermal blanket and he sleeps in a nappy and singlet and a cotten sleeping bag.

If you aint over heating her with her pj's or blankets and are still worried, depending where you live, in Australia we have a parent hotline we can call if we are worried about something or need advice, but can't get into the doctor, if you dont have one of these support numbers then just make an appointment with your doc and in the meantime make sure your not over dressing her to go to bed as that can cause a clammy baby.

Good luck =))
