Constipation - Can I give my 6 week old white grape juice with water?? Please comment

I was breastfeeding until he was a month and I dried up like a prune... So my pediatrician put him on Enfamil Gentlease and it was the worst thing ever! He's now constipated and very uncomforatable. I put him on Gerber Good Start which he seems to like a lot so far. Today is his second day on Good Start. Should I give him one ounce of white grape juice with one ounce of water when he wakes up from his nap before his bottle? I hate to see him so miserable. Please give some advice. I know there is Karo Syrup, laxatives, prune juice... But I hear that White Grape is easier on their stomachs and a natural way. Thank you!

I was told no no on any juice before 6 MONTHS by my doc. Digestion systems don't handle it well. Do you warm the formula? I know some people give it room temp or cold and have tons of problems with constipation. warm helps it digest and go through better.

My LC told be tiny bit of water - like an ounce and a pinch of brown sugar - the less refined, the better. But, I just massaged belly/bicycled legs or put more water than formula called for.

Go with flax seed oil for a natural constipation relief. Don't give him anything with sugar in it, like juice and corn syrup. Is there anything you can do to try to revive your breastmilk lactation? Try, try, try!!! Check in with a local La Leche League group right away and see what can be done. If it works, you won't regret it! Good luck!

i dont know about grape juice. i know when both my kids were constipated due to formula change. The doctor suggested apple juice. my son is 22 months now and my daughter is 8 weeks and she is doing just fine. i have to give 1 oz three times a day. i would just ask your doctor and see what they say.

the water is probably enoough i would skip the sugar in the juice, we also went through a number of formulas with our now 16 yr old due to intolerance and constipation, I would also reccoomend looking up a abdominal massage, to help stimulate the large intestine to move more regularly. this routine done daily can ease the stomach pain and improve the bowel movements. prune juic eand other laxatives are hard on kidneys and other systems in the body

I would talk w/pediatrician first. Id also rather use the Karo syrup (its natural alo) sometimes juice for babies that young can cause cramping and cause the stools to become too loose also

I doubt it will do any harm. When Logan was 11 days old we were advised by the doctor so give him a couple of ounces of water with a tiny drop of fresh orange juice in to ease constipation from switching from breast to bottle due to my milk not coming in.

I am not sure about grape juice, but when bubba was 8 weeks old we started giving him 5ml prune juice diluted with 5ml water following peds advice and it worked beautifully. He never had any issues and until now, when he gets constipated, eventually, I still use the prune juice and it always works.
