My baby girl is showing signs that she might be teething, However i am a first time mum and could be reading the signs wrong. She is dribbling A LOT, is chewing on her fist, my finger, her dummy anything she can get in there really. She is a lot more grumpy then usual and wants to be picked up all the time. Her sleep is interupted too. Any ideas???????

What can be confusing is that babies can start teething that early, but then they often stop then start teething again later on. Drooling and putting hands into the mouth are definitely signs but don't expect teeth to pop up, they probably won't show up for a few more months.

ABSOLUTELY! My first daughter slobbered, cried and chewed on her fingers for 3 months before she actually got her first tooth. I kept waiting and waiting wondering and it just took forever! I've heard too that some babies can be born with teeth so no worries!

Sounds like teething. Babies begin teething sooner than they actually start to have teeth show. They can teethe for several weeks and several months before actually cutting tooth. Babies traditionally start teething around 3 months and can get their first tooth at 9 months...long time between =] but that's not to say that the baby will be "teething" the whole time...they go into little spurts of teething from a couple days to a couple weeks, then stop and will have other teething episodes. And Britny is right, it isn't common, but some babies are born with teeth.

Who knows. Babies can teeth at anytime. Some are even born with teeth. Also, a baby can show signs of teething months before she/he will show teeth. My daughter had the signs and symptoms but no tooth showed up until she was 9months.
