Hi, my daughter is now almost 5 months old and I noticed today that she's got some cradle cap on the top of her head. She has quite a bit of hair now so it's kind of hard to see but I was wondering if any of you had any suggestions on getting rid of it?? Thanks

lots and lots of vaseline. coat it on real thick and cover her head with a cotton cap. within a week it should be gone. take a fine tooth comb and flake away the dead skin.

If it is cradle cap keep it clean and keep it lotioned it needs to keep moisturised, are you positive it is cradle cap?? My son did the same thing and we found out that he has Psoriasis. but thats only because it is genetic. There is a cream that can help but its RX only.

i find that putting veggie oil on my sons head works and then just put a comb or brush through it

My doc told me to use dandruff shampoo. It works great. and if you don't use that much it won't do all that tingling. Just a drop will do. It worked for me and my little man didn't seem bothered by it at all.

Thanks ladies! I was using the baby oil at first, and it did clear it up, but it has returned. I will go to walmart tomorrow to see if our store carries that cradle cap remover stuff you are talking about Melissa. If not, I guess I'll have to just keep using the baby oil n hope it clears it up for good this time lol

my son had cradle cap for about a month my doctor kept telling me to get selsum blue, i used it on him once, then i used it on myself, its terrible for babies not sure why doctors tell you to get that but seriously dont use that it tingles and could really burn there eyes just a heads up in case thats what your doctor says. I used plenty of baby oil and brushed it out little by little, they also sell cradle cap shampoo, sorry i forgot the name but it has pooh bear and piglet on the front and its a teal/green bottle it works very well.

both my children have had cradle cap. its nothing to be concerned about. I was told to use johnson & johnson's baby shampoo. it is in a clear bottle and yellow in colour. If that fails baby oil is also supposed to work really well. failing both these you will need to maybe go to a medicated cream. Hope this helps
