Crawling ?

Yay! That's cool :-) it's always so awesome to see their milestones and progress it's like it happens right before your eyes. One day they may not take any interest and the next it's like boom! Kinda like a light switch. And I agree with Brianna some little ones just are kinda slacky wacky.

My daughter started crawling at 6 months, but my son never crawled. He rolled like a barrell across the floor to get to where he wanted to go lol. He actually walked before he crawled. Every child is different so I wouldn't be concerned about it. It does sound like she's making progress though :)

it think on average kids start crawling at 8 or 9 months and walked at around 12 months. some kids skip crawling all together though. i no when i was a baby my mom said i never crawl i just started walking at 9 months old. also i have a friend would lil boy never crawled and he didnt start walking until 18 months old.. there was nothing wrong with him he just didnt want to learn lol guess some babys are just lazier then other lol

Hey Lisa,
My first son Kaden started to crawl around 6 or 7 months. He took his first steps at 11 months and I spent a lot of time with him walking from the living room to the bedroom every day. He did have a walker but spent alot of time crawling even after he learned to crawl. My youngest Caleb who will be a year old on November 23rd is still crawling. He is moving a bit slower. He sits up and then moves to his tummy to crawl but it's the tummy type. He pushes off with his feet and moves around his bedroom. I'd say just give your LO as much floor time as possible. You could invest in one of those courtyard XT with the extension and maybe put some blankets to give extra cushion. They say when one child crawls and develops fast that sometimes the second will develop a little slower. Seems like that's true for my boys. But the difference with my two are I didn't work for the first year of Kaden's life so I had all this time to work with him. As where with Caleb seems like I work a lot more. I wish I had that time to spend with him. It will come I know for your daughter. Every baby just moves at their own pace.

Thanks for all your replys !! She had her 9 month checkup and the dr she is perfectly healthy and says in no time ill be chasing her all around :)

Around 12 months for my daughter, and my son never crawled. He went straight to walking at about 14 months.

My daughter is 13 months and doesn't crawl - shows now interest either - she shuffles around on her bottom. If you put her on her tum she just pushes herself back up to sitting and shuffles. She can stand holding the sofa now so I'm not going to bother trying to get her to crawl anymore and just go straight for the walking - hopefully - she's certainly taking longer with that than my other 2 daughters did lol. I think if your daughter is trying to get into a crawling position then I wouldn't worry about it as it probably won't be long before she gets there.

My daughter crawled at 5 and a half months, not properly it was worm style, but she was mobile. She's going to be 1 next week.

The link i'll post suggest *most* babies crawl between 6 and 10 months. Some babies never crawl, but just get up and walk.

I personally believe skipping the crawling stage isn't that great as crawling allows them to build their upper body strength among other plusses, though not every one believes this or that crawling is a developmental stage, I however do.

Just continue to to encourage her with toys (or whatever attracts her) outside her reach, it does sound like she's definitely trying! she might just not be strong enough yet. We all do things in our own time and not before we are ready :)

If you are really worried about her progress then take her in for an assessment she may need a little physio to help build her core strength up.
