Hi,
I am 12 weeks pregnant. I had a ct scan done on my head yesterday. My belly and back were covered with a safety vest. My body never went into the machine. Is there any risks?

Well no offense but you had it done already so.. ? If the doctors covered you and didnt put your belly in and limited the exposure........ trust me, no doctor wants a lawsuit so they reallly are watching out for you. It's probably totally fine but I know it's hard to not worry about our little ones sometimes :) I took a drug with my son before I knew I was pregnant that said 'do not take if pregnant' whoops? It happens and my son is fine

I know a ct and an xray are different things, but I had to have a abdonimal xray the day I found out I was pregnant. Did the drs tell you how mininmal the ct would effect. the dr told me that I needed to have 5000 abdominal xrays before it would cause any real harm to my baby.

Thanks Gena :))) and I am glad your boy is a perfect healthy baby :) I have a friend that keeps telling me that my baby might have some deformations or generic problems :((((

I had to have a cat scan done when I was pregnant too. I was about 5 weeks. The doctors assured me the risk was minimal. My baby boy was born perfectly healthy and still is :)

Did you notify the tech that you were pregnant? There are lots of risks, but the lead vest should reduce that. if it was an emergency or there was an immediate danger to your health then there might not have been much of a choice. a healthy baby typically needs a healthy momma. id call my OB just to be sure :) good luck!
