Cures for butt rashes?

My baby is 9 months old and never used to get butt rashes. However for the past few weeks, he's had a constant rash. I use Burdeaux's (sp) butt paste. Any other ideas? What have you found to work?

Desitin works well for my son. and also If its really bad u could talk ur baby to the doctor and they can give u a percription and it clears it up in about two days or so... good stuff

My son had a horrrrrrrrible rash out of nowhere and butt paste worked GREAT! We were amazed of how well it worked.

Somebody said about Curash baby powder, powders are a little 'out dated' though. The doctor said that studies showed that it could cause lung infections, etc. because it is inevitably inhaled.

Lots of nappy free time is great. Bepathen is what we use on our son, and its fabulous. Also Curash baby powder is great for getting rid of nappy rashes...well we have found it is.

Lots of diaper/nappy free time. Whenever you're home or outside on grass (depending on the weather where you are of course!) let him roam butt naked for a few hours, just follow around with a towel for mopping up wee!

Triple Paste!!!! I also used butt paste in the beginning, and found that it didn't work, but the triple paste took care of the rash!! and it's nice because it's just white and doesn't stink!! (it's cheapest at target.)

cornstarch always worked great for my son - it would clear up in a day or two and the pain went away within the first day.

I tried Triple Paste on the advice of a friend... it works overnight. I now swear by it for baby skin rashes. I even use it on my son's neck for his "double chin syndrome". That nasty redness he gets around his neck from all his fat rolls.

I have always used the Lansinoh diaper rash cream. It isn't too thick which seems to please my little one and it goes on great. The only downside is the only place I can ever find it at besides online is at a Walgreens. But this cream is amazing it helps in one use usually for her.

The best thing in my opinion is regular corn starch. Its natural and when they pee or poop it kinda clumps in their diaper. It works wonders, its cheap and the only down side to it I think is its a little messy if you use to much. All my boys suffered from serious diaper rash all the way to welts no matter how much I cleaned them and changed their diapers. Pure corn starch , not the baby powder mix, was the best thing! It immediately put a buffer between them and the wetness. I didn't have to scrub it off when they would poop, which helped them to heal even faster.
Hope this help, and good luck w/ the diaper rash :)

I found Desitin Over Night Relief (in the purple box) at Target. It has 40% zinc oxide, which is what heals the rash. We use it at the first signs of a rash and rarely have to use it for more than 2 days. Most of the other rash creams we have used have 10% or less zinc oxide. good luck!

The butt paste didn't work as well for my daughter, but we like the Desitin Maximum Strength (the purple one). It is a thicker paste so it seems to stay in place pretty well. Her rashes clear up in just a few applications. Good Luck!

We were given Critic-Aid when my daughter was in the NICU. It worked wonders as a barrier but it wasn't the easiest cream. It essentially has to be washed off every application if it gets dirty or blotted. It was the only thing that worked on her at the time. Thankfully, we've never had a rash since then. Good luck!

Vaseline (petroleum jelly) works as a good barrier cream, barrier creams such as bepathen and sudocrem are good too. If it gets really bad you should see your doctor as the sores could get infected. My son hasn't actually had nappy rash (yet - most babies get it at some point in their babyhood!). What also may help is letting him/her have some nappy-free time so that the air can get to his bottom. We do this with my son although it usually ends with wee on the floor lol!
