i don't think i'd recommend cutting the nap out all together cuz they need them at such a young age.. maybe you could try reducing it and waking him up if he oversleeps?

they need to be up about 3 hours before they have a nap .. so essentially your little man is doing fine ... mine does the same wakes up the earliest about 6 and he'll go for a nap around 9ish for example.. like i said try reducing it maybe that could help.

I let mine wean himself out of naps all around with our first son. He had morning naps until about 13 months and then just at three years we are now working on no naps at all. 10 pm bedtimes were just plain ridiculous. Now, he is up from 7am to about 7pm. and we all are happy.

Our son stopped having morning naps when he was 9 months old. He had just one naps in the afternoon 1.30-3.30 ish. He still does this and is 2 years 8 months now.

I was worried about this too... my 5 month old slept 4-5 times a day for short intervals, but now has consolidated to 2-3 naps. Most people I have asked say that a morning and afternoon nap are normal for at least a year. I have come to the conclusion that what he says goes though... I let him sleep when he is tired, and he is getting into a bit more of a routine so it's roughly the same time each day. I say let the baby nap... he/she knows when it's time to sleep, and this gives you a little more time to yourself!

My daughter is 6 months old and she still takes 2 naps a day. Her day looks as follows:

7:30> Wakes up and has breakfast

10-12> Nap

12> Lunch

3-5> Nap

5-5:30> Dinner

8> Bed

She plays a lot and is not one to stay still EVER! So I think she just "Plays herself to sleep!"

Hey! My daughter is almost 15 months and still takes a morning and afternoon nap. One thing I noticed with her was that she needs a consistent wake up time in the morning. So at 7am we're up, even if we're still tired, then she's back down at 9 for a two hour nap. Routine is so important for children! Not a really strict, legalistic one, but something they can count on. It sounds like daycare may help with that.

If it helps, my little one has always been a great sleeper, and it's only because we do have a set routine. At the age your son is her basic sleeping schedule was:
7am wake up
9-11am nap
1-3pm nap
5:30-6/6:30pm catnap
7pm bedtime.
Sometimes it helps to see what other people do so you can decide what works for your family. :) Good luck!

my son is 7 months old and he still naps at least 2 times and sometimes 3 times a day....he goes to bed around 8pm and sleeps till about 8am then is back in bed about 10 and sleeps for about an hour and is up till about 2pm and sleeps about another hour or so, and sometimes needs another nap around 5 and i usually only let him sleep for about 30mins and then get him up so he will sleep good at night......i wouldn't keep him up just cuz it is around lunch time....just let him sleep when he wants and when he goes to daycare he will get on there schedule....and he will do it himself, he will start to know the routine there and know when its time to nap.....good luck

ya it just stinks that he waited till 11am to get sleepy and is sleepin still now haha

My baby is a week away from 1 and she still takes 3 naps and sleeps though the night (sometimes 4 naps). My oldest daughter directed her own naptimes, they stayed on a schedule that sortof shifted gradually until now, when she takes no naps at all (now that she's 6).

yeah he was on a great schedule he'd get up around 7 and he'd nap around 930 and then around 1230 and a small one in the early evening like 5  wich was great! Now he's staying up longer in the morning but not quite long enough to make it to lunch and another nap....I know they should iniciate nap themselves but he's going to daycare soon which they usually will let them sleep in the morn when they need but they have a set afternoon nap lights out time

Well my 4 month old gets up around 7 or 8 and he doesnt get sleepy till around 10 30 or 11 and then that runs into lunch time and messes up his afternoon nap and he ends up sleeping late?
