dairy free dinner ideas

Not sure how long you want to be cooking for but my little girl loves roasts (lamb, chicken, beef and pork) with vegies, apricot chicken, meat loaf, rissoles, casseroles, lamb and pork chops. all the meats i serve vegies with. Just a couple of ideas anyway. hope it helps a little and all the best :)

no not yet i am next week though dietitian. i was told alot of the males in my family had the same thing and all off them had grown out of it by the time the were about 8-10. its tiring work making sure no one gives him the wrong foods. i found that all the jars semm to have dairy in so have made up all food for him to freeze. i was told how to make a dairy free white sauce which he seems to really love. but its just hard to get different things into as sometimes he seems bored of the same stuff too often. im lucky as he seems to love eating veg and fruit which i have been told is hard to get kids to eat but at 8 months he cant get enough off them. thank you for all your help. is nice to know im not the only one as some days it feels like that.

All my children have had various food allergies ,dairy has been the main one for all my children. It is difficult and i did have to cook alot from scratch and check all the labels for ingredients. I found my local supermarkets value brand was the best dairy and lactose free. I couldnt use shop bought baby foods as most of them had dairy in them so i made up batches of fresh vegetables,white fish,chicken and i froze them,i baked my own bread and made my own burgers, I was able to use my supermarkets value tomato ketchup and beans and their gravy granules they also sold dippers and fishfingers that were milk and lactose free,instead of eating yoghurt for a snack she ate fruit purees and she loved the little milk free richtea fingers. I used a dairy free butter and she drank rice milk which i was able to make custard and cereal with. I really had to just look about but i really felt my little girl did not miss out. She is almost 8 now and can tolerate some dairy but still has ongoing problems with it. Invest in a good dairy free cookery book especially for toddlers you can get all sorts nowadays you will probably find a few recipes that your little one will love.Have you seen a dietitian they are always full of good advice about were to buy dairy free foods and new things to try.

thank you i think i will try some of those out and see how he goes. i freeze his food aswell as its easier when the rest of the family have other things. i have been told to invest in a slow cooker and think i might have to go and get myself one.

My son also has a dairy allergy and it can be a struggle. He loves ratatouille which is really simple to make but I also make alot of recipes in my slow cooker and then freeze portions. He likes beef stew, morrocan chickpea soup, beef and butternut squash, there are lots you can do in a slow cooker I swear by mine. I just throw the ingredients and leave for 8hrs. If I'm cooking meat and using onions I usually fry them off first before putting in.
