Diaper Dilemma

I currently use Pampers Swaddlers and they are great! But am interested in exploring some of the less expensive brands. Soooo, instead of trial and error, I thought I would rely on the wisdom of the moms in my circle! I was thinking of Luvs because my sister used those and didn't have a problem...Any thoughts/concerns/feedback???

My original concern with switching diapers was diaper rash, but my sister assured me that the diaper has little to do with that as long as I keep her dry and apply desitin, I shouldn't have to worry. It's the leaking I need to be concerned with. Although, the other day she was lying on me with the biggest grin on her face as she relieved herself on my lap! She was wearing pampers, but I think mommy might have still been 1/2 asleep while putting it on that night. lol

If anyone has information on dependable inexpensive diapers, it would really help me a lot!

Thank you!!

Wow...wouldn't I love to be a part of the diaper making biz!

My particular opinion is....a diaper is a diaper...they will leak sometimes, it happens. I have a breastfed baby, and nothing could keep in his BM's! Now that he is on solids, we have a lot less accidents. I switch between Luvs and the "Target" brand diapers. They're both inexpensive, and they do the job just fine. I find that the "Wal-Mart" brand seems pretty thin, like a paper diaper, but I see no reason to spend a small fortune on Pampers and Huggies.

i use pampers baby dry and they have worked good for me, he is in the size three and has only wet through once and i think that it was my fault that i didn't change him right before i put him to bed, and he also slept from 8:30pm till 9am that night......but other than that they have worked great.....when he is at my sisters house he uses the wal-mart brand and i haven't heard anything bad about them from her and he is ther every-other-weekend when i am working......i tried luvs and they are ok, but only fill like half way and then leak, and huggies i thought were too bulky.....but thats more than likely just me.....pampers are kinda expensive, but i print coupons off the internet and also clip from the newspaper and signed up for there mailing list.....

I have a 3 month old and have used both Pampers Swaddlers and Huggies and both seem to work equally as well. I didnt like the Huggies NB though bc there were weird around the umbilical cord...once that fell off there was no differece. If you have a Sams Club, BJs, Costco or anything like that...you can get them much cheaper (formula too).

I used pampers baby dry which are the most amazing diapers, but due to money issues we just switched to LUVS which work GREAT!

I also use pampers swaddlers. They are great! At my baby shower I had gotten luvs, store brand diapers, and huggies... All of the store brand diapers are so stiff, and unlike the pampers they leak like crazy! Even a little pee seemed to go right through. I hated it. The huggies wernt that bad, but Im not sure how much cheaper they are than pampers. Go to BJ's... a box of almost 300 diapers cost 30 bucks... GOOD LUCK!

I LOVE LOVE Huggies. I have three kids and have not used anything else and won't even try anything else. No diaper is perfect. Your going to have you blow out and leaks. I have tried what seems to be every brand of diaper out there with my first child, so see if one that was less expensive was just as good. It is not even worth it. Huggies holds a ton. You are not changing your baby all day. I change my 6 month old maybe 4 times a day at the most (unless he is dirty) and he has never gotten a diaper rash.

hey sidd!!! i have tried pampers, luvs and huggies. i luv pampers but being a single mom they do get expensive. so i am currently using huggies snug & dry and love them. she too is sleeping around 9 hrs and is dry in the morning, i think that at night they are even better than pampers. i completely hate luvs. they did not hold up esp at night time. my mom had purchased luvs to keep at her house for visits and she absolutely hates them. oh i forgot i have used white cloud also when she was a newborn. i had recieved a whole box of them from a vendor that were samples that get sent out in the mail, and i used them until she moved up in size. they worked really good. i don't use them now b/c i try to avoid walmart b/c ours is sooooooooo busy all the time and i usually stop in at walgreens to get my diapers and formula. i would recommend though that u buy the smallest package of each brand and see what works best for you. what works best for others may not be what works for you.

I use White Cloud but the only problem is that if they sleep on their tummy then they leak. Otherwise I like it.

I finally decided that risking leaks just wasn't worth it, and we are now buying not only Pampers but the most expensive kind of Pampers---Cruisers. We were buying Pampers Swaddlers and then Baby Dry but even though they are the right size they were still leaking up the back. Yuck! So far the Cruisers seem to hold it in better. But I bought them online and saved a little bit. That, and Sam's Club makes them a little cheaper. I've decided to cut back in other areas so that we can get the diapers that don't leak for us. And no matter what kind of diaper you get, it's possible to get a rash if they stay wet too long, like at night. Just put on a good coating of A&D or other ointment on a regular basis and there shouldn't be a problem.

I use Huggies and I love them! My daughter is sleeping through the night and is always dry. The only time she is wet is if she sleep 14 hours straight, which on occasion, she does. I didn't have a problem with Pampers either. But just prefer Huggies when they are older. I have tried Luvs, but I think that they leave an oder when they get wet. My sister-in-law thought the same thing. I have heard the target brand are like Luvs, and I have also tried the white-cloud diapers-Walmart brand- they were given to us as a gift so I figured we would just use them up. I found I didn't like those either because of leaks! That is all I have tried! Hope it helps a little!

Well I need to know what type of pampers pampers you're using because my son wears them at night and 85% of the time I wake up to a pissy smelling baby and wet clothes....which is why I use huggies. I LOVE huggies, I want to try Luvs but I know huggies work, sooooo.....

I love LUVS! Another mom mentioned they leaked too bad, but she has a boy. You have to make sure their wee wee is down.

Ok, so I have a daughter as well. We started with Pampers Swaddlers bc we had received a ton for free. They weren't too bad except for when she had an explosion. It was everywhere. Then we tried Huggies. Nope, they leaked pee.

So we have settled on Luvs and haven't had any problems for 5wks now. Which is great since they are cheaper.

I couldn't use Luvs we tried them and they leaked super bad. Like, poop literally leaked out of the diaper and onto the floor. And he wasn't on the floor, I was carrying him. They are not the Ultraleakguard! And if we didn't change him as soon as he wet, like at night, then everything had pee on it. We use Pampers Swaddlers or Huggies Gentle Care because we had no luck with the cheaper diapers. Someone told me that the Babies R Us brand (Especially for Baby) isn't too bad, but we haven't tried them yet. Good luck!

All I can say is we tried Zeller's "Truly" brand, and they DID give her a rash. But this must vary from baby to baby. We also realized that part of the reason her diaper was leaking was because we were using too small a size.

Also, I'm totally jealous that your girl is sleeping through already. Congrats and enjoy your sleep!!

By the way, she pretty much sleeps through the night, anywhere between 6-8 sometimes 9-10 hours at a time. We've never had one leak, so I have no problem with maybe using Pampers at night, but trying something else during the day when she's changed more frequently. Thanks again!
