of course all babies get diaper rash once in a while, but i was just curious what other moms think about all the different kinds of creams out there. what are your suggestions and thoughts on the best diaper rash cream and what brand do you suggest?

Also, any moms of premature babies, please come join my community at Mommies of Preemies on Circle of Moms

ok so i know this is going to sound weird but trust me when i say it works wonders.... get a dirt dobbers nest put it in a mesh bag and crumple it up. sprinkle it over their bottom. and within a day it will be gone. its what my great grandmother who which was an cherokee indian did to my father who in turn did it to both me and my sister. i have yet to try it in my son bc he has not yet had a diaper rash

My lil one had a seriously bad rash last week.... My mom kept telling me to use Olive Oil with a few drops of water in it, and I didn't listen the first day... When it didn't get better I tried that and IT WORKED! The very next day he had almost nothing left and within 2 days it was completely gone! I strongly recommend everyone to use this! The way I did it, was I used one part of water and 2 parts of Olive Oil, with a cotton ball I applied it in the affected areas every time I changed his diaper. I also washed him with luke war water instead of using wipes as it bothered him a lot... Hope this helps!

The heck with Vaseline, butt paste, Dr recommended stuff...I'll tell you one thing. My son was only few weeks old when he got his first diaper rush....BAD!!!!! NOTHING would help..tried all the above. Read on line about the lanolin, the cream that you use for your nipples if you're breastfeeding. Well....in few hours, my son's butt was clearing up. No joke! Swear by it. You could find it at Target, Walmart, Giant, etc. It costs about $7 and a clear rear end :)

Diaper rash is actually a yeast infection. My babies tend to get them often, and my doctor prescribed Nyastatin ointment. The only way to get that is by prescription. Another option is to buy over the counter yeast infection treatment such as monistat. This is the same stuff. It has been my experience that most "diaper rash creams" do not work. This stuff does.

The best cream is no cream. I would suggest vasaline or any other petroluium jelly. Also, try to wash your baby as often as possible rather than using wipes when he/she goes #2.

i find sudocrem really good. it clears nappy rash with a couple hours. Just remember with nappy rash cream you only meant to apply a thin layor as if you put it on too thick it rubs onto and stops the nappy from being able to absorb the urine and can help cause or irritate nappy rash

defiitely sudocrem if its a rash with fungus...this cream won't go to waste i also use it on any zits that may pop out, literally ...u apply it one day , the next day gone.
for every day use vaseline.
powder also very refreshing.
a good friend of mine told me to use cornflour on stubborn rash and the effects were awesome!

I started with Penaten but it ending up creating blisters and cuts on her area so I switched to BAGBALM! It is an antiseptic for cow utters but it works magic, the hospital and my DR. said its awesome that I use it. It does wonders, it works on everything from cuts to burns. Its miracle cream.

My son, and I, have very sensitive skin. This is the BEST cream I have found. It works on all kinds of skin issues and clears up diaper rash in 1 or 2 changes! Unfortunately, I think you can only buy it in stores if you live in Atlantic Canada. I bought mine online. It was totally worth the money. (It is natural as well)

Hi Sara,

I am the mother of three young children. My oldest had VERY sensitive skin & semed to have a rash ALL THE TIME. I have tried absolutele everything out there (Butt paste, penaten, sudocream, vaseline...& way more) & right when I was about to give up, I found the BEST cream ever ! It is called IHLE"S Paste. It comes in a tub & is found in the pharmacy section, as it is used to treat other forms of skin irritations as well. I think it's a combination of the ingredients (lanolin, corn starch, zinc ) as well as the texture that makes it so great. A couple of applications, and the rash is gone. I can't say enough good things about this cream. I tell all of my friends about it & they are all hooked as well. It REALLY works !

Corona from Walgreens pharmacy, it is behind the counter you have to ask for it. Yellow with red cap. Old remedie passed on from family to family. If the diaper rash is bad, like sometimes when they have antibiotics and get diaper rash so bad it bleeds. Corona will clear it up in 1 diaper change or over night. Now do not read the label because I think it is used for animals hoves or something like that but many of friends and family have used on there kids for over 30 years now. It is like lantiseptic like you use on older adults. Works the best and now that I finally have a kid I use it with her, because when we switched formulas the diaper rash was bad. I tried creamy desitin ($6)and triple paste ($30). Corona around $8 and alittle goes a long way.

Dr. Smiths is by far the best. We tried everything out there and our Dr. recommended it. I order it online.

vaseline for everyday every diaper, my girl has not had diaper rash ever. though when i came home from hospital and after weeks of wearing pads for bleeding I got "diaper rash" i had penaten on hand....aahhh relief!!! i would totally swear by it, i got diaper rash twice and decided to use it, low and behold it works. luckily vaseline everyday on babe prevents it. i rather prevent than treat diaper rash. and vaseline is cheap.

Hi there! We were recommended by the hospital to use Vaseline. And I have to tell you, we've used the Vaseline for every diaper change, and our daughter has not had a diaper rash yet! She is now 12 weeks old. Hope this helps.

Critic-Aid. It was the only thing that helped Rowan after her surgery when she started feeding and we were changing literally 20 poops a day. When we finally started feeding her milk her little bum was on fire and raw. It literally ran through her. We went through 3 different creams in the NICU before a nurse suggested it. However, we had to rinse her bottom at every diaper change because you cannot wipe it off due to the very fine sand like granules in it. But it was the best!

I tried the butt paste first and it works, but takes a day or two (for us) to kick in. Then we tried Balmex and LOVE IT! It gets rid of the redness in one use usually. We just use it before bed a few times a week and it keeps the diaper rash away.

If it is just an everyday diaper rash I found Butt Paste to be the BEST cream available. It is thick and soothing. Works great for just an everyday sort of diaper rash that happens now and then.

there are 2 types of cure for the rash...one is curash which was a powder and very effective, but the one I use on just about any form of skin irritation was canestan cream..It is antifungal and forms an oily coating on the babies skin so that moisture just ran off it and left no residue on the skin.....for both boys and girls it was and still is great. For chaffing, rashes irritations just about anything.....This cream once upon a time use to be only prescibed for women for thrush...now you can just buy it over the counter and it lasts for a long time as you only use just enough to cover the rash area. Also the coating that it puts on the babies bits stops any stinging or burning they might suffer everytime they do a wee..
