I was told 12lbs is small for my 5 month old she wears stage 2 diapers but they're a little too big and the stage 1-2 are too small (pampers is the only brand I use) your child is normal don't be too concerned. Every baby is different :)

My daughter's 8 1/2 months, and went into size 3 about 3 weeks ago. She wasn't there according to the weight, but the size 2 just seemed too tight around her thighs. She's just now starting to get into size 3 for her weight. She's very petite though. Almost 9 months, and only 16 pounds. She's only in the 10th percentile, but very healthy, and happy.

My daughter was in a size two diaper for ever. Same with size four and we had to put her in premi diapers when she was born ( she was only two days early lol) as long as the babies healthy I wouldnt worry about it. My son is 9 months and in a size 6 so every baby is different.

My daughter was in size 1 at birth, By the time she was 5 months we was in 3's. She's now in 5/6 at 2 but we're working on potty training. Each kid is different. My daughter and m nephew are not even close to the same as far as height/weight at certain ages. My daughter has been on the bigger side since birth and my nephew has been smaller. Mine is now 3ft tall and 35lbs at age 2. Which for her age is n the 97th percentile.

Oh that's definitely normal! My daughter is 14 months and is in size 5 diapers lol. Every baby is different and every brand of diapers are different. I never follow the height/weight any more because my daughter is only 23 lbs but leaks through size 4 so I have to get size 5 so she doesn't leak. Whatever works for you, use. =)

I use the Kirkland brand from Costco and love them!! my daughter can sleep for 10 hours in them no problem...and they are cheap...$37 for 212 diapers. cant beat that =] lol...they remind me of huggies with the wrap around band.

I think the weight part is a little off in the US diaper sizes. I live in the Middle East and size 4 is 7-18 Kg (15.4 to 39.6). I think size three here is like 4-9 kg. BUT the diapers are the same size as the diapers in the US. Here I use Pampers and in the US I use Luvs.
I definitely think there is an advantage to using a bigger size when your baby can because you won't risk leakage up the back....

Jeanette, I wasn't sure if there was like an off brand or something that went by height. haha. But that is how Cade is as well. He only weighs 20lbs (size 3 goes to 28lbs), but he is 27in and has HUGE thighs! I upped him to size 4 because 3's were causing the area where the sides of the diaper rest to become raw and red.

@ Sarh, I'm in the U.S. too and I never saw height on a diaper package before. But weight wise, Bryce is a size 3, but the diapers are too little if he would wear a size three, I assume because he is tall. But size 4's drown him... That's what I meant.

Jeanette, I have never seen a height measurement on a diaper.... I'm in the US, that seems weird to me. I personally think they should measure around the waist and thighs! haha. My son has HUGE thighs like my fiancee, but he has a little waist.

Babies come in all different shapes and sizes. My daughter is 3 months old, almost 4 months, still in a size 2. I can't see her growing out of them until at least next month. My son on the other hand wore a size 4 by 4 months.

my daughter was in size 2 diapers for a long time. She is in size 3 diapers and has been for what seems like forever too. lol...she's 21 pounds so she has a while to be in them, til 28 pounds i think. She's 1 1/2 on the 1st.
Some babies are just bigger than others and some are real skinny and some are real chubby and everywhere inbetween.
As long as she is healthy & thriving she should be in whatever size her weight group falls into. Some babies are smaller as are some bigger. My kids have always been on the bigger side, my son is 10 months old & wears a size 5 diaper. His two year old cousin wears a size 5 diaper as well. Both are healthy & doing just find physically. So nothing to worry about :)
