My ds will be 4 months next week and we just stopped swaddling a couple days ago. For the longest time I was sure he wouldn't stay asleep without it, but he seemed to be fighting it more and was wiggling out of it (we used a kiddopotamus swaddle me blanket) so I just decided to try without. And so far I think he's woken up less at night! I think he just likes to stretch out.

I swaddle my daughter- it's the only way she'll sleep- she still startles herself awake at 4 months. Apparently you are supposed to half swaddle when they are older than 4 months- as they can overheat and it has been linked to SIDS. But I would think as long as you aren't swaddling with a large heavy blanket and wrap with something weather/ termperature appropriate there shouldn't be a problem...

i wrap, my husband swaddles, baby doesn't seem to care either way as long as she is fed, changed and cuddled. It depends on what the child likes and what mom and dad like.

We did for the first few months. It helped them settle and sleep.

We swaddled our baby boy from day one. He is now seven months old and still loves to be swaddled before he goes to bed. He gets his arms out immediately, but I think it's just part of his routine. He looks pretty funny though!

They are all different as you can see by the replies. My little girl didn't really like being swaddled past the first few weeks.

My son was swaddled until he was 5 months old and he would wiggle free from it while sleeping. My daughter was swaddled until she was 7 months old and we stopped using the Tucker Sling for her reflux. She still needed the swaddle but I had to stop because she was trying to rollover in her sleep. It was a rough week of adjusting to no swaddle after such a long period of time, but she is sleeping fine now without it.

Both my babies (eldest now 8 and youngest just turned 1) were way to squirmy to be swaddled, but my youngest went through a bit of a phase between 6 and 9 months of loving to be tightly wrapped up in a blanket at bedtime. Not at nap time though. Now she even hates pyjamas, never mind any bed coverings! They're all different!

I swaddle my month old twins every time they go to sleep and they seem to sleep better when they are swaddled.

I swaddle my 3 month old. It's the sure way to keep her asleep. I stopped for a while after we braught her home, then started again. She hates it at first because she likes to have her arms out and likes to kick but, after about 30 seconds of jiggling her she falls right to sleep. It's funny... theres a big scream then she's out.

My lil boy was the same as the other 2 ladies. Hes 6 months old now and perservered with the swaddling for about a week after he was born. Hated being swaddled and loves having his arms and legs free. Some babies love it..and obviously some don't lol.
