My ten month old daughter still has this happen at times. It might be a little bit of cradle cap. What I usually do before I get her a bath is use a little bit of baby oil and rub it on the spot that is dry and then use a soft comb and by doing this it will loosing up the dry scaly stuff. Hope this helps

it sounds like cradle cap. add some olive oil in the water you use to rinse his hair. also put some vaseline on the scalp every night and try combing out the scales every couple of days

I read in a book or magazine (can't remember which, read the article a long time ago), that you rub oil on it and use a soft bristle brush to brush it off, if it is cradle cap!!!

Could be a touch of cradle cap, is it scaly? If it is cradle cap try rubbing olive oil onto it everyday,if that does not work you can buy cradle cap shampoo (we used Dentinox but I don't know if that is just a British product) and a cradle cap cream. Good luck.
